It was a privilege to work as a Summer Intern at Credit Suisse (CS), Mumbai. I worked in the Equities Consolidation Team of the Market Liquidity and Risk Management Division. The selection process consisted of a group discussion followed by a technical and HR interview. The technical interview lasted around 40-45 minutes where the panellists asked me questions based on SQL, VBA, Bonds and Options. Finally, the D-Day arrived on 3rd April 2017. We had a one-day induction program and thereafter, I was introduced to my respective Line Manager and Team Mates. The project that I was assigned, involved identifying and analysing Index pairs and products under APAC market which do not fall under the Value At Risk (VaR) framework.  To proceed with the project, I had to spend time in understanding the underlying concepts like VaR, Options Greeks, Options Pricing etc. I was given training manuals and study materials. There were training sessions organised by some of the line managers of the same department where we could discuss and clear doubts. CS has an amazing work culture where people encourage learning things fundamentally, not just superficially. There were a lot of events organised for the interns to make them feel like they belonged. For instance, Speaker Sessions were exclusively organised for interns where we had the opportunity to attend talks by various MDs and VPs on topics ranging from Banking Industry and Innovation to Central Government reforms and their impact on India. We also had an opportunity to interact with Mickey Doshi, CEO, India. It was mandatory for us to interact with three Directors during the tenure of our internship. On the last day, I was required to make a presentation in front of all the six VPs of the Market Risk Division. Initially, I was apprehensive about how it would go and what sort of questions they would ask. But it compelled me to put my best foot forward and it gave me the exposure and confidence to present before an entire bunch of experienced seniors at the firm. My two month stay in Mumbai was filled with memories. I enjoyed every bit of it exploring the city and learning new things every day. These memories shall be cherished forever.     ------------------ About the Author: Arushi Gupta ‘An electronics & telecommunication engineer from Symbiosis International University, who is an avid reader, quizzing enthusiast & loves to play badminton and table tennis.
