Part-A
The mall opened in the city just one week back and the buzz it was creating matched the level of excitement people of Bhopal had during Navratri. Every other teen, youth and family were talking about going to the mall to check out the first few stores opened in the posh giant. Pantaloons were among the first ones to join the family of Bhopal. Bhopalis suddenly now we're wearing the colours of pantaloons proudly. It was the first mall in the city, 2010 was a good year for the city as there were many people living in the city who has never seen a mall yet alone shop something from a sophisticated store.
Though this is not solely the reason why pantaloons hold a great value in my heart. When I was a kid my father and I went on a small trip to Indore for his office work. Indore is just 4 hours far from my place, so I slept all the way till there. As my father was busy working I had a terrible day at the hotel. My anger was quite evident from the bright red face I had put on as my dad came back from office. To make up for the day, my dad took me to a mall in Indore which by the way was my first visit to the mall. A little shocked, amazed and excited I was gawking at everything reluctant to ask my father if I could buy something from there or not. To my surprise, my father took me to pantaloons and I bought my first T-shirt in pantaloons.
The opening of the mall and with it the entering of apparel brands changed the whole fashion culture of Bhopal. As the people living in the city were not ready to spend a hefty amount for anything in the mall, pantaloons stood out because of its budget-friendly prices for middle-class income group. The impact it had on the standard of living was huge. It brought a wave of quality and trendy clothes in the youth of the Bhopal. It changed the whole dressing styles of women as easy and affordable clothes in pantaloons were attractive as well as giving them a young edge to them.
The small store opened in the city, brought with it a big revolutionary change whose effects were not just on the dressing style of the population but also gave them many other values like self-confidence, improved self-image and on top of it happiness.

It was the most awaited event in the year my whole college waited and yearned for, Atharva conducted by IIM Indore for all graduating peeps from the city as well as the neighbouring city. Dancing is something which I can work for diligently and with all my mind and heart to. The event conducted many academic and cultural events. But the one I looked forward to since the last year was “Verve” group dance competition. We had been practising day and night for this event. A month long practice session to create the best choreography, perfect synchronisation and the prettiest costume.
The last week before the event, one of the members of our group bailed on us stating she could not go because of personal reasons. The whole group went into a frenzy and panic. Everyone had put so much effort into this that seeing it all go down the drain was heinous to look at for everyone. The decision was to be made as to who can replace her and who has the capability to learn such routines in a week’s time. After a lot of contemplation with my own pessimistic mind, I took up her space and started working it out with the choreographer, the team and mostly with myself.
The night came of our performance, the auditorium was jam-packed and my nerves were about to explode due to my uncalled anxiety. Our performance was a dedication and depiction of the incidence of “acid attack victims”. The performance ended and all I could figure out at that point was the whole auditorium was standing up and applauding us for our encapsulating performance.
The trust and belief I had it in me got me to a stage in front of 700 people who all were cheering me for my hard work.
