My journey as a professional started with my First Internship as an Intern with Edelweiss, One of India’s Leading Financial Groups. With no experience in hand, I was nervous and asking myself – How does all this Work? What would be my Mentors’ expectations? After all, Edelweiss is such a large company. The two months went by so soon with many ups and a few downs! I was a Sales Intern and it was Hardcore Sales! I learnt a lot about myself, things I am good at like talking with clients, pitching products, learning different ways of sales and most importantly – How to close the Deal!
Moving forward, I had the opportunity to do my Second Internship with Aditya Birla Payments Bank – part of the Aditya Birla Group and it was the best workplace, colleagues, mentor and work one can ask for! As an intern, you don’t have high expectations - it’s more like “Do what you’re told to do!” but ABPB changed that stereotype completely for me. I was a part of the Digital Product Development Team and the organization was about to commercially launch itself. As a team member, I would make decisions that affected the organization. My suggestions & ideas mattered – they were taken into consideration. Interning with ABPB really helped boost my confidence. It changed my ability and way of making decisions completely, especially when you know your decisions & ideas can impact a big organization, I started becoming a better and more through decision maker.
I am currently completing my Third Internship with Ginger Hotels – part of the TATA Group as a Finance Intern. I am working with the Corporate Finance team and seven weeks in, I’ve learnt a lot including MIS, SAP, Scheduling. Being a lean team structure, a lot more than the usual is expected from the Interns. As part of the team during the Audit Season, deadlines and hectic schedules stretching late in the evening was common. It made me stronger as an individual and as a corporate resource.
All three internships were in different Industries and each role was very unique. I learnt something new from each internship but I don’t think any of this could have been possible without my Athena’s trust in me by providing me with the best of opportunities that are available out there.
