In one of the pristine lanes of Backbay Reclamation lies an old red brick building, its withdrawn appearance having a stark contrast with its grandeur and influence. It’s been called many names over the years: JB, Bajaj, CEO Factory, Red Building of Dreams and few others. Over half a century, this small building has given the nation and the world some of its most eminent leaders; primarily in business but also in film production, arts, and other fields.
One of my most memorable moments in the last one year is when I got placed in summer placements. It was the third day of placements and I hadn’t cracked any companies till then. On that day eight companies had visited the campus for placements but I had not cleared the seven companies on that day. I was a bit disheartened and worried about what would happen, as all the companies I wanted had left the campus. I slouched to sleep in the auditorium for two and a half hours with all other students also stressed and the few placed ones tired and doing their best to help.
After some time my batchmates abruptly woke me up, and through bleary eyes I say that my name had appeared on the board for personal interview round with the last FMCG company of the day. I was still half asleep as I put on my blazer and went to the interview room. The interview went much better than I expected and lasted only around 10 minutes.
This was my first interview during the placements and I was sure that I had performed quite well in it. It was soon declared that I had been selected for the internship and was quite delighted. So delighted, that I forgot my blazer in a can right after I left college as I was too busy talking on phone with everyone!
Which ABG Company would you want to work for and why?
The company I would love to work for is Aditya Birla Retail. I am a marketing aspirant and having worked on one of the premium FMCG products in the country I am even more looking forward to the world of retail and consumer goods. Aditya Birla Group has marked its presence in the retail sector with More supermarkets.
I would also love to work for Aditya Birla Fashion as many major apparel brands are currently managed by the Group and it is an intriguing and growing field in urban India.
