“Jamnalal Bajaj” - The name itself evokes so many feelings in the management world populace, ranging from awe to respect to nostalgia to would-die-to-get-in-there. So my happiness knew no bounds when I got into this celebrated institute.
However, before joining JBIMS, my only apprehension was that it does not have a residential campus program and I would be missing out on experiencing a campus life. But this was totally unwarranted and it was a relief and a joy to be wrong on this count. JBIMS is popularly known for its rigorous programme where there are lectures scheduled back to back. Most of these lectures can be long, however, they were never boring, what with so many industry professionals coming in to give their wisdom and practical knowledge.
Also, after these lectures, we, the students, would sit together to complete our assignments and presentations since it required a lot of learning from each other as well. These sessions unknowingly created a sense of bonding amongst us, as discussions would gradually shift from the work on hand to anything under the sun, be it politics, or religion, or movies or albums! We also had corporate competitions where it was required for us to participate as a team, which gave us a chance to meet and discuss before submitting our presentations. Since everyone was from different parts of the city, what better place for everyone to meet, other than in college.
Besides all this, we also had our committee work in college. If we had any trouble with any assignments or concepts, our seniors were always there in college to guide us. Thus, it slowly became a norm that we would be spending more than 12 hours in college. There wasn't any particular moment where we realized this, but slowly and steadily those long hours spent there, made the corridors, hallways and classrooms of JB a familiar place, and ‘Bajaj’ soon became a home away from home for us!
Which ABG company do you want to work for and why?
I would like to work for Aditya Birla Capital Limited (ABCL) which is the holding company for all financial services businesses of the Aditya Birla Group. With more than 10 subsidiaries under its umbrella, ABCL caters to every kind of non-banking financial service required. Advisory services of ABCL is what stands out the most for me. And for Aditya Birla Group, advisory service is not restricted to just a financial planner for your capital. It instead encompasses all their products and this has been a major leverage of ABG. Alongside arranging for capital for your financial requirements, Aditya Birla Capital ensures that the right solution (specific to your needs) is provided to you. As a finance graduate, it will be a dream to work in Aditya Birla Capital and be a part of a company which is one of India’s largest conglomerates.
