MYRA IndusTree: CXO Power Talk (21) by Dr. K Ganesh Knowledge Expert and head of the SCM centre of competence, McKinsey & Company March 13, 2017

"Be nimble in thought and action"
It is not often that one gets to hear a person who writes poetry as well as complex inventory optimisation algorithms; a person who is at ease designing websites as well as Strategic Network Design.

The students and staff of MYRA were honoured to have a very eclectic personality Dr K Ganesh, Knowledge Expert and head of the SCM centre of competence at McKinsey, India. An erudite scholar and an established consultant, Dr Ganesh has published several papers in national and international journals as well as conferences. An author of five books, he is also the editor-in-chief for three International journals. Delivering a talk on ‘Innovative Delivery Model using Advanced Analytics’, as part of the 21st edition of the CXO PowerTalk series at MYRA, Dr Ganesh identified four key trends that are shaping the supply chain management arena. First of all, the accelerating growth of technology compels managers to leverage technology to increase profitability, reduce costs as well as raise service levels. Second, managers need to quickly adopt innovation not just in their products and services, but more importantly in their business processes. Third, shorter and tougher business cycles mean that managers need to be agile and quick to respond to fluctuations in supply and demand. Lastly, they have to contend with an expanding and demanding consumer base. Regaling the audience with negotiation role-play scenarios, Dr Ganesh stressed the need for managers to develop better negotiation skills so as to win in the market. Dr Ganesh mentioned that GST roll-out in India will be a game changer in more ways than one impinging on facility location, inventory management practices, logistics modes and channel partner relations. He signed off his talk advising budding managers to practice 4H in all aspects – humility, honesty, hard-work and humour.
