After doing extensive research placements, infrastructure, faculties, academics, campus life, student exchange programs of all the new IIMS and after comparing and assessing each of them carefully I decided to join IIM Kashipur. Now, what makes IIM Kashipur unique?
Entrepreneurial environment
As an aspiring Entrepreneur, this factor played a major role in my decision to join IIM Kashipur. E-Cell, the entrepreneurship cell of IIM Kashipur, embodies the entrepreneurial spirit of IIM Kashipur. The E-Cell works to promote entrepreneurship as a career option among the students. It also encourages students to adopt an entrepreneurial attitude and realize innovative ideas into sustainable business enterprises.
The presence of more than 15 startups, currently running in IIM Kashipur is a testimony to the resounding success of e-cell of IIM Kashipur, achieved in just 7 years. The E-cell provides students with a platform to interact with the entrepreneurial world through guest lectures, conclaves, industry visits, etc.
Strategic Location
IIM Kashipur is strategically located in the industrial hub with a vast presence of operational plants of various companies like Tata Motors, Bajaj, Ashok Leyland, Patanjali Ayurved Limited, Dabur, Nestle, Parle, Titan and much more. Being situated in the foothills of Himalayas makes Uttrakhand a tourism hub with places like Jim Corbett National park, Dehradun, Nainital, Mussorie etc. So there is a lot of scope of multidisciplinary learning and application of management education.
Infrastructure
IIM Kashipur provides single occupancy rooms with attached washrooms and a fully functional mess. Besides this, the campus has a high-speed internet facility, a fully functional library, and a canteen. Each floor has a radiant cooling system which makes it easier to survive the harsh summer months. You also get a refrigerator and a washing machine on each floor. The campus is spread over 200+ acres of lush green land(largest among the new IIMs). The whole campus is a thing of beauty.
Academics
IIM Kashipur is an academically oriented institute. The academics here is at par, if not better, than the most of the B-Schools in the country. To call the curriculum rigorous will be an understatement maybe because in the initial days the institute was mentored by IIM L, more popularly known as HELL. The pedagogy involves a mix of case studies,
Harvard articles, etc. The institute also has a tie-up with the World Bank where students get an opportunity to work with the bank projects.
Student Activities
The student body is very active in the campus. Almost all the initiatives are driven by the student body with close to zero intervention from the administration. The committees and clubs are extremely active throughout the year. IIM Kashipur hosts a number of events each year, some of them being Agnitraya (Management-Sports-Cultural Fest), TEDx IIMKashipur, EQuiz, Venture 500, Uttishtha (Entrepreneurship Summit), B-Plan Competition, Coalescence(HR, Marketing, Operations, Finance), Rumble in the Jungle, etc
