So this story is about a girl in a new city with a lot many aspirations and dreams to be fulfilled in the next two years of her life. It’s going to be so amazing and so different is what everyone had told her, but people are going to be selfish, opportunistic and you might not make the best of friends there was also something that they told.
But why so? There might be at least a few of them who won’t be like that, she thought.
I know this journey is all about cut-throat competition be it the run-up to the b-school (preparation for CAT, GDs, Interviews) or “the final journey” (the various b-schools competitions, team formations, class participation, summer internship and whatnot). Maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be or maybe not! We have been crafted by the disaster to push out to the utmost horizon to find out what's on the other side of it. That's in our nature.
While preparing for an MBA, we often see the brightest of the sides it offers and put in all our efforts to reach the other side of it. Only when we’re on the other side, we realize that there’s a lot more to it. We forget what’s beyond it - the sense of belongingness, and responsibility to make each other feel comfortable, to uplift and motivate one another.
Why can’t people connect with each other without any definite motive?
Why don’t we have as many friends here in MBA as we did in under graduation?
Probably because people become too “wise” or they’ve probably seen so much in their lives already! Right! Just 25 years old on an average and seen life already? Think again. This generation is so competitive that we’ve lost the sense of being friendly, considerate or more than anything else just being human. Human-to-human communication is a true wonder of the world, then why not leverage it instead of misusing it.
I, after 30 months of corporate experience, am still on the same page on this front as I was 7 years back. I’m not being naïve just wanting to say that - even if the world out there is competitive we can help each other build, create and achieve because creating a better world requires teamwork, partnerships, and collaborations.
Look for things that tickle the fancy. You’ll begin to see the end of life on the horizon. You think, 'It's not going on forever, this.' Let's make the most of whatever time we have.
Too many questions..?? They certainly deserve an answer because we have always held to the hope, the belief, the conviction that there is a better life, a better world, ‘Beyond the Horizon’!
