The group has now grown into a conglomerate under the able leadership of Sh. Kumar Mangalam Birla and is a leader in most of the segments where it has registered its presence. Right from my school days, when my mother used to pack the lunch in Superwrap and Freshwrapp to keep it super fresh to the time when I needed to wear trendy clothes during my school time, our dependence on Birla group cannot be stated enough. Pantaloons had exactly the type of clothes we wanted for everyone in the family and was the one-stop destination for shopping. When I needed to look sharp and classy during interviews or here at IIFT, Grasim and Planet Fashion would come to the rescue. One would get all his favorite brands like Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Louis Phillipe under one roof and wearing them brought about a sense of confidence and comfort at the same time, which is a difficult combination to achieve. Moreover, my sister's obsession with Forever21 in unparalleled for, she believes, it brings out the best in her.
I was a very reserved and shy person since my childhood. I was an introvert and would never take the initiative to talk to anyone. Gathering confidence to go on stage, social events was a big task for me. These things were pulling me down and my self-confidence took a hit. When I moved out of the comfort of my home for the first time for under-graduation, I realized that I had to come out of this to stand up to the challenges that lay ahead. I knew that I had a good sense of humor and that would help me break the ice with a lot of people and make new friends. I somehow began to interact with more and more students around. Then I joined a society in the college which helped me shed my inhibitions and be a strong confident man. Today, I stand a confident man here at the prestigious IIFT, trying to overcome the rest of the challenges and hurdles that come my way and venture into a successful life, with, of course, Van-Heusen suit by my side.
