It’s been a little over a fortnight since I came to XIMB. And I have to say it has been the busiest couple of weeks of my life. There have been assignments, case studies presentations, mock GDs, batch meets by various student committees and also a multi-sports tournament in just a couple of weeks’ time. All these are in addition to our regular classes. I have barely managed to get more than 4 to 5 hours of sleep each day. But having said that I have enjoyed every moment of this rigorous life at XIMB and that is what makes life at XIMB so unique. Each one of us here craves for this rigor because it inculcates in us qualities like time management, smart working & quick decision making which will obvious be helpful for us in our future careers.
Another distinctive feature here is the warmth & friendliness with which the seniors guide and help the juniors. In fact, the seniors insist that we approach them in case we need any guidance or help. They are always eager to give us tips on how to get the most out of the time we spend here on the campus. In our very first week we were given assignments by our seniors to make presentations based on case studies and mock GDs were conducted by them for our benefit. They gave us some constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement based on their experience. The idea behind them making us do this was for us to kickstart our preparation for the various corporate and inter B-School competitions that takes place throughout the year. It would also help us prepare for our summer internship placements which would also be starting soon.
And finally, another unique aspect about XIMB is the cultural and educational diversity of the students. This makes classroom discussions on any topic a lot more interesting as there will be a lot of viewpoints one gets to hear.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
If I was given a chance, I would like to work for Aditya Birla Retail Limited. I am interested in marketing and have worked in the field of digital marketing before joining XIMB. Marketing is my passion and retail is a sector in which I feel there is a lot of scope for marketers to innovate. Before joining XIMB I had attended the event ‘Konversations’ conducted by InsideIIM in Bangalore where I got the opportunity to listen to and interact with people from the ABG. They spoke about the Aditya Birla Group Leadership Programs and their wonderful experiences working in ABG and this is when I decided that I too want to be a part of it.
