conglomerate, headquartered in Worli, Mumbai, India.= It operates in 35 countries with more than 120,000 employees worldwide. The group was founded by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla in 1857. The group has interests in viscose staple fibre, metals, cement (largest in India), viscose filament yarn, branded apparel, carbon-black, chemicals, fertilisers, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO and IT services.
The group had a revenue of approximately US$44.3 billion in year 2018. It is the third-largest Indian private sector conglomerate behind
Tata Group with revenue of just over US$100 billion and

What makes ABG big in my life?
ABG refreshes so much of my child hood days , particularly the home cooked hot lunch wrapped in Freshwrapp to schools. The memories of crumbling foil papers post lunch and corridor basket ball practice runs through my mind as I write this article. I still remember, when first Pantaloons was inaugurated in my city – Kolkata in 2006, it was the only destination to shop internationally recognized fashion brands. Being a young teenager with an uncontrollable excitement, Pantaloons was the only hotspot for my shopping.
The table has now turned over the years. Being in my mid-20s, my parents jokingly keep telling how it is my responsibility to make sure if my younger brother has whatever he wants or else something bad may happen. The evil-minded sibling has taken it as his ‘Brahmastra’ to extort money from me every now and then. ABG too has made it easier for him by opening its 4
th Pantaloons very near to our home along with recently launched 1
st ‘Forever 21’ outlet in Kolkata. ABG, in a sense, has helped avoid adverse circumstances by preventing me from the wrath of my brother. It would be interesting to see how Big ABG can get in my life in the years to come
Challenges I have come so far!!
I used to be a person who was never accustomed to taking risks or big life-related decision without any backups. I was employed in a decent paying job of an Assistant professor. I led a good and respectable life without much of workload and a certain future. But I had dreams and other better plans for my career. With time, I learned the importance of exploring oneself when the opportunity provides. So, I decided to quit my job and pursue post-graduation from National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai (NITIE), a B-school which I truly believe has the potential to develop leader of tomorrow. This decision of quitting my job and restarting afresh was really a very tough one as it can change the entire way I proceed to achieve Big in life.
