Before joining IIM Rohtak every new comer has some questions in mind. What would be the campus be like? Is Rohtak a safe city? Am I about to witness a rural Haryana culture? and many others. All these questions keep boggling a potential joiner. But the moment you enter the IIM Rohtak campus the answers to these questions come by experiencing the IIM Rohtak aura. It’s a lush 200-acre campus that enthrals every MBA student (kathor) in some or the other way. The campus brings out the explorer in you, long night walks across the flora and fauna, midday treks to the classrooms and the casual walks to the night canteen makes you a wanderlust. On the academic front, IIM Rohtak tries to bring out the Kathor (tough) in you. Professors and scholars keep you on your feet and deadlines can come and go in a jiffy and the phrase that’s embedded in each of our mind is “Deadlines are Sacrosanct”. Case study-based methodology ensures that we are not lost in the early ages and are at par with the industry best practices. Mooting is a way of life at IIM Rohtak, be it at the Chai Wala, in our dorms or in classes, we discuss and discuss in groups. The location of the campus is well connected from all major cities across Delhi NCR and it’s just a 10 min drive to main Rohtak City from the campus. Our campus has state of the art facilities, ranging from tech-enabled classrooms, a modern library and sports arenas. But the thing that makes my campus unique is the experience that an MBA student gets throughout his 2-year term. Huge industry exposure, management summits, guest lectures from eminent personalities from the industry or academia and the cultural and sports events that we have round the year. The exposure brings out the management guru in oneself. Participating in national and international level competitions keeps the brain clock ticking. Last but not the least, the admission committee brings in the best minds from India to a single location thus we make some of the best friends who come from diverse backgrounds having rich industry experience across different sectors. Being a fully residential campus adds more beauty to the 2-year PGDM program as IIM Rohtak never fails to be a home away from home. Which ABG Company I would like to work and Why? Under the ambit of Aditya Birla Group, I would like to work under Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited. As the retail industry in India which was worth $641 billion in 2016, is expected to reach $1.6 trillion by 2026. The fashion/apparels retail sector is where the most growth in the future will be centered. Transforming rapidly in terms of competition and consumer behavior, fashion retail’s growth has been the result of rising disposable incomes, changing consumer preferences, greater brand awareness, everincreasing internet/smartphone penetration, and a rapidly growing millennials/Gen Z population. Urbanization across various parts of the country has led to an expanding retail market, presenting a lucrative opportunity for both domestic and international brands. With competition from the e-commerce industry only intensifying, several big names in Indian retail are bound to launch their own online channels in the past year. Therefore, I would like to work for retail stores under the ambit of ABFRL and create brand awareness and increase penetration among the increasing consumer base.
