I am Sneha Sinha. I am a student of PGPEX at IIM Calcutta.
For me, womanhood is not something to be celebrated on a particular day, but it is a continuing celebration in whatever I do. Deciding to do MBA after almost 10 years of work experience with Dell and Cognizant and while leading a comfortable family life, was a tough decision. Doing MBA with managing my son and my daughter and husband scattered across Bhagalpur and Noida respectively was tougher. It was the drive to achieve something and my persistence coupled with a supporting family which stresses on the importance of women education saw me through my tough yet enjoying experience.
MBA for me was not merely a platform for getting a salary hike but a life changing learning experience which changed, rather improved the way I think. I would consider this as my biggest takeaway. Not to forget the life I lived in last one year in a serene campus which has seven beautiful lakes and is dotted with innumerable trees and flowers. It was a welcome break from the concrete jungle we live in.
One day, I dream of becoming a successful woman entrepreneur and I am sure the day is not far off.
According to me, the biggest challenge for women in workforce is the ability of system to manage and accept her personal constraints without compromising the job. Not everyone has family support and an ecosystem which appreciates women joining the workforce after a break due to pregnancy and child rearing will be one of the best gifts the society can give to our women.
IIM Calcutta is known for migratory birds coming into the campus. I came here as a migratory bird and will be soon leaving. But somewhere inside me IIM Calcutta will be present throughout my life. And like the migratory birds….Main Waapis Aaungi….. !
