Why Aditya Birla Group is a big part of my life?

The Aditya Birla Group's origins go back nearly a century before independence and its role in India's economic history is linked to the country's search for political freedom. Today, many of the ABG’s group firms are in the league of Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, who took over as the Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group in 1995 has raised the Group’s turnover from US$ 2 billion in 1995 to US$ 44.3 billion today.

Under his stewardship, the Aditya Birla Group enjoys a position of leadership in all the major sectors in which it operates, like: metals, cement, carbon black, specialty chemicals, viscose staple fiber, viscose filament yarn, acrylic fiber, fabrics, telecommunications, economic services, retail, branded clothing, natural resources, agri-solutions, energy, and trade.

The Aditya Birla Group has succeeded in its endeavor to provide values through its products to its customers and, in spite of the multiple projects they are invested in, they have strived to work with passion and commitment, and made their mark in the Indian land. As a result of their continued success, today millions of Indians are beneficiaries of their products and services and ABG has been able to make a unique impact on people’s lives. It's large, yet by introducing retail shops in India, it has made the long walk in the bazaar small. It is competing with global rivals, with brands such as Louis Philippe and Peter England. In my daily life, I personally contact a lot of products by the Aditya Birla Group. Pantaloons, Forever 21, Allen Solly and Van Heusen are my go-to my fashion wear shops.

With the continuous expansion in already existing sectors and diversification towards new and upcoming ones, ABG has grown into one of India's leading conglomerates and a leading force in the global market.

How I have overcome challenges to achieve my goals

"Life is at its best when everything has fallen out of place, and you decide that you're going to fight to get them right, not when everything is going your way and everyone is praising you."

One of the toughest and testing phases I’ve been through in life was when I got severely ill right at the beginning of the final year of my undergraduate studies. It was an important phase of my career but everything started falling apart. I experienced constant pain in the upper part of my abdomen for weeks and was later hospitalized because it took too long for the doctors to diagnose the right cause of the condition. After staying in a hospital for over a month and then, on bed rest for more than two months, I had lost all hope that I could come out of it and figure out what I wanted in life.

I survived the hard conditions of staying all day in bed being able to do nothing with my books. I never read them with the intention of clearing any exams, they were just my escape. When I saw my scores in the CAT exam, I was really happy and satisfied in the sense that I was able to perform well irrespective of what I went through and pushed myself beyond my comfort zone. And today, being where I wanted to be, it feels like a big achievement.
