How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
I come from a family full of Doctors. Growing up, I was also expected to pursue a medical career and even I was convinced regarding the same. But as my high school exams were approaching I realized that I was fonder of Mathematics and gravitated towards more logical subjects than theoretical ones like Biology. It was that moment that I realized that I am not made for MBBS and hence confronted my family. As is the Indian middle class family culture I was expected to be the genius student who would grow up and follow the legacy of my family members to become a doctor. It was the biggest challenge I had to come through in my life. With a lot of convincing myself and my family I finally decided to take up engineering. Being the first one from my family to do a Bachelors in Technology, I had to face many hurdles and hardships. There were many a times where I required guidance regarding the study, internships and the in general the flow of action regarding the same, but because no one from my family did remotely something like the course I had to rely on my peers and sometimes my intuition to make the choices. It helped me realize that no matter how low you can feel, there is always a way that will work out for you and will help you grow. All the hardships helped me grow as a person and with the efforts I put in I passed through with flying colors. Similar events happened to me when during the course of my Bachelors I decided to do my MBA. But because I had an experience this time, it was far easier for me to take the decisions myself. These challenges not only broadened my horizons to think but also made my family realize that there are other occupations as well that could help build a successful career, which they did not think otherwise.
