“The big challenge is to become all that you have the possibility of becoming. You cannot believe what it does to the human spirit to maximize your human potential and stretch yourself to the limit” – Jim Rohn
This is precisely what my initial days at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, a luminary in the field of international business, have taught me – ‘Stretching your limits’. That feeling of awe as I walked past the ‘Wings of Wisdom’ when I entered the campus for the first time is still afresh in my mind. A new place swarmed with new faces, all from different walks of life, yet the air had a sense of warmth and familiarity, a feeling of being connected with people aspiring to learn and succeed.
Experiencing the first week of being an IIFTian was simply unparalleled. Caught amidst assignments with stringent deadlines (XX:59:59 to be precise), group tasks and guest lectures, our energy was waning out with every sleepless night, yet it was our zeal to learn that kept us going. Thus, began a journey I had never contemplated. Little did I know that this journey was the onset of a transformation in its truest sense. Within a short span of time, it taught me some extremely valuable life lessons, be it stepping out of one’s comfort zone, not accepting any limits, overcoming one’s fears or working in teams with a diverse set of people. It had infused in me a passion of taking up challenging work and a positive attitude towards life.
IIFTians truly resonate with the mantra of working hard but partying harder. After a strenuous week, we all were in for a fun filled surprise party. It was when we all were dancing our hearts out, that I realized how closely knit our batch had become in a matter of few days. This is what the Brand IIFT does – unite people from diverse backgrounds like no other place can. I truly discovered a home away from home. This one week gave a sneak peek into the roller coaster life ahead where work and enjoyment go hand in hand. It instilled in me the confidence that the incredible amount of rigor that all of us are going to be put through will definitely mould us into future leaders.
