Whenever any business house is set up in any particular country or region, the benefits and advantages that it confers upon the people of the region are innumerous. The growth stories of the developed nations around the world have always had its protagonists in the form of big businesses who not only provided employment to the people but vastly improved their freedom of choices which is the real index of development, as proposed by Nobel laureate, Dr Amartya Sen.

Source: The Aditya Birla Group Aditya Birla Group has played a very important role in transforming the lives of innumerable Indians. I have been a direct beneficiary of the growth enjoyed by the entire Birla Group. My father is an engineer at the Century Pulp and Paper which is a company owned by B.K Birla Group. Mr B.K Birla was the father of late Mr Aditya Birla. The freedom of choices that I had in my life was guided to large extent by the resources available at my disposal, which in turn were dependent on my father who is an employee at one of the Birla Group companies. All the financial and non-financial help by the government and other non-government organizations can help an individual only to a certain extent. It is companies and business houses like Aditya Birla who empower a citizen. The Aditya Birla group has helped to immunize 70 million children against polio over the last seven years, helped set up over 22,000 toilets and their Mother and Child Healthcare projects serve 100,000 women and their children every year. India’s 21st-century growth story will be guided by such corporate houses who don’t just operate for the bottom line but also believe in bringing a change in the society, a growth that is inclusive not just of a few individuals.

Change is the new Constant

Every one of us faces certain challenges in his/her day to day life. If we feel that life is not challenging enough then we are not trying out something new, we are not coming out of our comfort zone. During my graduation days, I felt as if my life was sorted out. Everything was going fine. I was in a college with 100 % placements, good pocket money and a family that supported me. In the final year of graduation, I decided to come out of my comfort zone. I realized that with the same inputs, I cannot hope for different output. I knew that I had to make something of myself because no one else was going to do it for me. We come into this world alone and we should at least know how to survive on our own. We all, instinctively have this survival instinct. When push comes to shove, you will react, despite your fleeting thoughts. So, to achieve better, I started planning for the future and decided to go for a management course.  I have found that taking the advice of other people helps us to see things from a new perspective. It can help in setting up the right targets. Another thing I realized is that being ambitious always helps. We always need something that presses down on us, testing us, so that we are always pushing to become stronger and not settle in complacency. With patience and perseverance, we can achieve wonders. This simple formula has worked well for me till this date. Challenges continue forever, so we have to constantly change our self to conquer them. #ABGLP #WooMeSeason2
