Jesse Owens says “Awards become corroded. Friends gather no dust”. Isn’t it true? Friends are literally our second family. Often it is the craziness present in different people which bring them together and develop friendship for life. Same is the case with me as well. I shall be introducing four of the craziest persons I have met here at XIMB. The first is Jason D’ Souza. So, we had our first sports events in XIMB and Jason was in the basketball team. A tall, muscular guy who was extremely calm on the court and played the sport with extreme ease. He was also the captain of our team. It was no wonder that our team won the finals as well of basketball. I had never seen a person so calm, maintaining his composure so well and the way in which he led the team against fierce competition. The second batchmate I would mention is Shivam Jolly. This incidence also happened during the sports event. He wears spectacles and was a part of the cricket team. Our team was chasing the score and he got a ball hit on his eye which broke his spectacles and swelled his eye. But when the team was in distress, the crazy guy went to play on the field with alternative specs on his swollen eye. Though we didn’t win the match, he helped in taking us very near to the target. The third person is Raj Vir Singh and he is from Jamshedpur. People over there refer to themselves as “hum (हम)” and not “main (मै)” while referring to themselves. This was a first time that I was meeting such a person and I found this quality very intriguing. It develops a sense of respect while speaking and no wonder, after two weeks in college, even I have started speaking in that way. Lastly, how I could forget to mention Sarthak Sood. He has done his graduation in Psychology which brings a varied diversity to our batch at XIMB. Whenever I interact with him, I learn a new perspective of examining oneself which helps me in understanding human nature in a better way.
Which ABG company I would love to work for and why?
If I get a chance to work with Aditya Birla Group, I would like to work with “Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited”. With the fashion industry being ever-expanding, shopping trends changing day-by-day from retail stores to online shopping and a continual change in fashion trends, I believe it proves to a challenging industry for such a big brand with so diversified portfolio. I would like to be a part of this huge sector and to apply knowledge learnt during MBA and gain valuable experience.
