I had lived in Delhi for 4 years when the opportunity opened up for me to go to a place which was in the crudest words, completely different from my background. Everything from food habits to language to slangs was going to be different. This did make me apprehensive but the desire to study in a residential campus overpowered these apprehensions. And I came to XAHR-XUB.
Having studied in Delhi University, I had lived in a paying guest accommodation, like most do. So, the possibility of living in a campus which was always buzzing with academics, activities and events attracted me. Being an enthusiast of the behavioural aspects of human interactions in a formal setting, I always knew that human resource management was the course I wanted to pursue.
After scouring through websites for weeks, I found a course outline which excited me. My naïve mind had assumed that the courses would be mostly similar across all colleges, but the presence of subjects, in the XAHR course outline, which wasn’t a part of any other curriculum became the deciding factor for me to choose XAHR. I have been here for almost 20 days now, and every moment I am proud of my decision.
Initially, along with the cultural factor of inhibitions, the age of the University concerned me. But my confidence was boosted by the vigorous student clubs, the pool of national level winners of various competitions and the placement report. This was nothing compared to the boost I received in my first week here. The determination of faculty to make us feel welcomed, active committees that organized orientation sessions, the dedication of seniors to help us and surprisingly clean air (Yes, that’s a factor for people coming from metropolitan cities) made me fall in love with XAHR.
Which ABG company will I choose and Why?
I believe that the retail sector is a taxing area to work in. The employees are constantly on their feet interacting with multiple customers every day. This along with the employees who plan the logistics of managing a store construct a certain hierarchy of jobs that sometimes becomes a hindrance in planning better policies for the workers. This is where I want to step in. I want to work as a Human Resource Manager in the Aditya Birla Retail limited to become a bridge between the different job positions so that the ultimate aim of maintaining quality of not only products but also people is achieved along with upholding the vision of sustainability.
