I have always been an avid shopper and a fashion lover! From the time I remember shopping, I have never missed out any chance to visit a Pantaloons or a Forever 21 or a Van Heusen shop. These remain my all-time favourite wardrobe revamp stores! From the cloth to the design and even the budget – all things are handled by these sweeties perfectly!!
But, still the finger-biting question that every shopper dreads, among myriad of available options, is choosing what to buy. Thankfully, this too is made simpler owing to the great connectivity and strong network provided by the Vodafone Idea Limited – “whenever and wherever I go”. Even the remotest regions get network and data access with proper speed, not only making my shopping spree less dreadful but also making wild party outings more enjoyable and at the same time, less worrisome for my parents!
Brushing aside these value additions Aditya Birla Group has contributed to my lifestyle, a special mention needs to be made about the wonderful summer internship experience I had at Aditya Birla SunLife Mutual Fund, Aditya Birla Capital Limited. That was a delightful rollercoaster ride which not only educated the uninformed child in me about the various financial instruments, but also made me think how future investments are important and can help me plan achieve my goals in an effective and efficient manner. Though I have not started investing yet, but once I start earning, I am going to open an account and invest actively.
Looking back, Aditya Birla Group had already been impacting and affecting my life in a big way! And such everyday encounters and experiences with the brands of this giant has actually compounded to help me grow and evolve into a better and more responsible person. But, I was not this sorted in my perception about things and people always. I had to brew a different potion to be able to appreciate above instances – Accept Yourself Potion!
I was a chubby and overweight child! The best part - fat tissues didn’t actually bother me much! Parents had always taught me to love myself the way I was born! The lesson I was able to hold onto till 12
th. The journey to question the things and then accepting the natural you with a bit of twist began when I joined my graduation college.
When you just don’t question things, even strong footholds can crumble against lashing winds – and the same happened to me. Constant ridiculing and jokes by my peers made me self-conscious about my bodyweight. I totally forgot about the “love yourself “motto my parents had taught me since childhood! Why so? - I was busy in copying the lifestyle of others. I had stopped loving myself and was damaging my body via crash dieting and multiple wasteful long trips to the gyms! Things were not working out for me and I was beginning to question my determination.
But as the adage goes, not all days are the same! I suddenly realized the problem - it was not my body, but my mind. It clicked to me that everybody is different and everyone has a different pace to adapt to things too! The people whom I was trying to copy were different altogether! I felt light as a butterfly! On that day, I actually absorbed the message my parents were trying to convey.
After a lot of rumination and contemplation, I set my goal - to get healthier – not for others, but for me! I charted out a regime customized to my likings and habits. This made me happier and I was more receptive to it. For four years I slogged hard – eating healthy, yoga and brisk walking were all gelled into my routine. Sheer determination and will helped me achieve the fitness goal I had set up for myself. But just setting up the goal and carving out a plan is not enough. Following the plan that has been laid out is equally important. This mind-boggling ride of rejection, reflection and acceptance in the truest sense helped me understand consistency and discipline in a way never understood before.
Since then, I have applied the same message on a broader perspective too! One should first be able to remove the mental blockage and then try to understand the situation. Accept the state of affairs and then start to work on it! In this way whatever may be the challenge, the first and foremost step is to analyse the cause. Then think on the possible ways to solve it. This helps you achieve results in a pragmatic and an effective manner! Also, one solution fits all doesn’t work each time! Do some out of the box thinking and concoct your very own potion!
