It was a dusky evening. I was sitting in the office, going through the mandatory training. It was a long day, and I was a bit tired. Obvious thought of pushing it to the next day struck in mind. Gathering the courage, I thought of giving a glance at it. It started with a first page and was deeply enchanted with the contents. Then, kept on going through the material, turning the page one after another. I didn’t realise when the evening turned into the late night. I was involved in the content. The training was basically about the current buzz word "Data". It matched my interest, something which fascinated me for a long time. Being in the organisation and spending 3 years working on raw data, I never knew there is such a huge scope for it. I thought why not give it a shot at learning all this stuff? I researched and figured out the relevant courses, colleges for an MBA. Now here comes the tricky part. I was handling a team of 4 people. There was a huge responsibility for ensuring that my work doesn't get affected because of studies. Keeping an eye on the entrance exams, I started burning the midnight oil. Dedicating the spare time in learning something new became my favourite hobby. Now here the main problem arose, there use to be workload, manager's/lead's expectations were high, I have to manage office work as well as studies. Compromising sleep, maximum utilisation of time and motivation of achieving the goal kept me going. Sometimes I performed good, sometimes I performed poorly in mocks. Still, I kept going on, kept pushing myself harder. Then some naysayers kept on doubting on my ability or potential, raising questions on how a person with such high work experience would enter in the B-school. As they say "when going gets tougher The tough get going " These lines were constantly going through my mind. And finally, the day arrived, with numerous thoughts in mind I took the exam. The results were declared followed by GD-PI-WAT. My ability to learn something new, passion and liking towards the course sailed me through the process. With the notification, there was a mail prompting my shortlist for the dream college I was eying for. Meanwhile, I was awarded for my excellent performance throughout the year. These experiences taught me, no matter what the obstacles you are going to face in the life; if you are passionate, persistent, have structured plan and know how to channel your motivation in the proper direction, you will achieve your ambitions.
