It’s a hot and humid afternoon of North India, and the students are sitting inside a small crammed up classroom of a coaching center and suddenly the aroma of Aloo ka Parantha and Aam ka achar fills my nostrils, reminding me how hungry I was. I quickly opened my lunchbox in which my mother had packed my food with freshwrapp, I just had a morsel when I realised, I am the center of attraction of some 50 odd students. This is one of my fondest memories of the time when I was preparing for my Engineering entrance exam, where our hard work was sandwiched with such small joys. Down the line this hard work paid off and I got into the prestigious Delhi College of Engineering. But this meant I had to leave my hometown Roorkee and move to the fast-paced life of Delhi. The transition was difficult and the changes here made me seriously question my approach. I faced numerous challenges, one of which was looking professional because your appearance is the first thing anyone notices. I knew I had to work on it and that’s when I found Allen Solly, which not only helped me find a smart range of casuals for my classes but also the right business attire for my placements. In those 4 years of college, I worked on my all-round development. But this was not it, this city demanded more. I had to grow into a person who had to be at the right place at the right time. To be this individual I had to stay connected not only to the people all around me but also to the happenings of the whole world. And to my rescue was Vodafone Idea, the network that not only helped me stay connected to my family and colleagues but the great internet speeds helped me browse through the events of the world in an instant. Be it the underground world of Metro or the high rises of Gurgaon it has always been by my side. All these aspirations and challenges helped me grow into a person that I am today, someone that I am proud of. This confidence helped me get into one of the world’s biggest MNC, Deloitte. But the world of consulting was a new ball game altogether, looking sharp was the first course of action. Louie Phillipe and Van Heusen were my constant partners and they helped me shape my professional career. While working in this competitive world I had to have some assurance for the uncertainties of life, that is when I started investing in Life Insurance with the help of Birla Sun Life Insurance and I believe this was one of my smartest decisions. And today, I am here at IIFT and the whole story seems to have started again. With the home-made food packed in Freshwrapp for hostel, to the gruesome heat of Delhi, I have set on a path where I need to learn more and improve even more. But I think I am ready for it; I aspire to be successful and I think this is the path to it. All I need to do is to stand by my principles and maybe someday I can be as big as the Aditya Birla Group.
