How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life
The year 2011 was a difficult phase for my family. My mother was diagnosed with depression. She had to stay away from us for five months. It was also a critical period for me. I had to prepare for my 12th boards. The circumstances in the house were such that it was challenging to study. Since my mother was away, I had to take care of the house. It was challenging to manage my studies. However, I did not lose hope and started managing my time between studies and household activities. I studied hard, and my hard work was paid off. I was the school topper and district topper. My family were called to various award felicitation ceremonies, and they were proud of me.
My parents have always encouraged me to study, and so after graduating from college, I decided to appear for CAT, 2017. I did not succeed and failed to get a percentile to get admission in a premier B-School. My parents were upset with the results, but they encouraged me to give another try as they had faith in me that I would succeed in the next attempt. Studying with a full-time job was very difficult. I knew that I would have to put in extra effort to get the favoured results. I utilised every moment to study and prepare myself for the exam. In 2018, I gave CAT, XAT, SNAP and IIFT. I cracked all the four examinations and got a chance to interview for various premier B-School colleges. These challenges have taught me
perseverance and a mantra that
one should never stop believing in oneself. With the same mindset, I have decided to start my MBA journey with
SJMSOM, IIT Bombay.
