Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life. How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far. I can still remember someone told me few years back that Peter England is not an English brand, it is Indian. This made me google about the brand and I came to know that it is owned by Aditya Birla Group which was founded in 1857. I then realized the hard work and competencies of Indian conglomerates which have risen to international level, and wondered why we run behind foreign brands for the quality they provide when we have businesses like ABG in India itself which are economical and don’t compromise in quality. ABG has impacted all our lives in one way or the other. It is impossible for me to imagine a day without ABG directly or indirectly affecting my life; be it the next phone call I make, my wardrobe (which is full of Pantaloons and People clothes), the 4 walls within which I am sitting and writing this answer or the Aluminium foil I use to keep food fresh (Freshwrapp). For some, ABG has been a ray of hope in darkness. According to me, a brand becomes big and successful when it gives back to the society and ABG has never shied away from that. ABG is involved in various CSR activities providing education, meals, training etc. to the under privileged communities. ABG is also working towards sustainability and women empowerment. Talking about women empowerment, why is it so that most of the engineers are males and teachers in most of our schools were females? When I decided to go for Mechanical Engineering after my high school, relatives and acquaintances were skeptic and gave advises to pursue other specializations or to choose Computer Science if I wanted to be an engineer because most girls go there. Some people still say why I did engineering from Mechanical branch. I personally think mechanical to be the most versatile and creative branch for engineering which gave me variety of exposure to automobiles, materials, industries, operations, software and what not. There were people to back up and support, they were my parents who never doubted any of the decisions I made in my life. Right from studying maths after 10th standard to joining IIM Kashipur for MBA, they have always supported me so that I can achieve my goals and fulfill my ambitions. One cannot be a successful manager without facing any challenges or perhaps without failing at least once. Here at IIM Kashipur, each day is full of new challenges and each and every day I come out of my comfort zone and face them. For others this must be small or nothing at all but for me these baby steps will count and be responsible for what I do after 10 years from now.
