This blog would not be another one on the strategy to crack CAT and get yourself into one of the best B-Schools in the country. This is to encourage the readers to not limit themselves and their abilities to an imaginary boundary and to be bold and open to change. Throughout my school life, I was clueless as to what would I like to be when I grow up. I started to follow what my friends used to do or what my teachers advised would be good for me. I was not sure what I wanted to do and hence, like my friends and many others, enrolled into an engineering college. However, soon I realised that this is not something I see myself doing for a considerable time in future and decided to drop out. My parents were incredibly supportive of my decision and I chose to take a step back rather than moving ahead in the wrong direction. Post that, I was exploring various options and after much deliberation, I decided to pursue a degree in Business Management. I was now happy in what I was doing, even though it was completely alien to me initially. I made up my mind quite early that I wanted to pursue MBA after my under graduation and I somewhere made up my mind that I’ll be only aiming for “The Holy Trinity”. I appeared for CAT 2018 fairly confident that I can crack it but it didn’t go as planned and that created a lot of self-doubt within me. I started to question every decision I made and couldn’t really take it well. But then one day, I decided that the CAT journey isn’t over for me and I will try my best to make it in 2019. I worked really hard but then there were some days when I would just not understand where I was going. And during those times, I used to try and visualise myself in IIM Ahmedabad (my dream college) and that motivated me to work even harder and make this dream a reality. Post CAT 2019, I was fortunate enough to receive calls from some of the premier B-Schools including IIM A which motivated me to work even harder and convert all my calls. On 8th May, 2020 at 1 PM, I received a notification which read “IIM A Results are out”. With lots of nervousness and anxiety, I opened the link and there it read “Congratulations! You have been selected for admission to 2020-2022 batch of the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management at IIM Ahmedabad (IIMA)”. Undoubtedly, it was one of the most memorable days of my life. It still feels surreal to call myself a WIMWIAN. Through this story, I just wanted to remind every reader that you can achieve whatever goal you have set for yourself with dedication and honest hard work.
