There is no one in this country whom the Aditya Birla Group has not touched. The brand portfolio of the Group encompasses sectors which we come across daily. The group has played a large part in the lives of people across this country. I can definitely attest to it, and I am really happy that I can express it today. In my childhood, I witnessed the construction of our house. I was fascinated by how a dull grey powder was actually able to hold together the bricks. I came to know that the powder like substance was called cement and it even had a name, UltraTech Cement. Since then, the Aditya Birla Group has been an integral part of my life. A few years later, after incessantly pestering my parents, I got my own mobile phone. Little did I know that once again Aditya Birla Group would form a part of my life. Yes, I had gotten for myself an Idea sim card. My mobile handsets may have changed over the years but my network provider is still Idea, and why would I need to shift away from the best. Now, let’s come across as to how the Aditya Birla Group plays an important in my current lifestyle. Being an IIFTian, I know the need to look sharp and presentable at all times. The combination of Louis Philippe and Peter England aid in creating an impactful look for me. The pairing of Allen Solly and Van Heusen also has an important place in my wardrobe. Let me now tell you something else about my life. This is was a period when things were not going the way I wanted. But as they say, “where there’s a will, there’s a way”, in the end I did overcome the challenge. I was facing a language barrier which had resulted in me being isolated from everyone. I hail from a small town in West Bengal, where all my life the only language required was Bengali. I had even done my XII in the Bengali medium. So, when I travelled to Delhi for my graduation, I was like a deer in the headlights. Everyone spoke Hindi, which I could at least understand due to the influence of Bollywood. However, I could not speak the language. But the greater challenge was the use of the English language as the medium of study. Due to my upbringing in a closed environment where Bengali was the first and the last language you needed to know; I was not able comprehend the classes. It was a great blow to my morale and my confidence was shattered. Then, I realised that the only thing holding me back was my own self. I started talking to people in broken Hindi, and found my peers very appreciative of my efforts. By the end of my graduation, I was proficient in Hindi, and had gained many friends whom I could trust to watch my back. When my Hindi showed signs of improvement, I began to work upon my English skills. Once again, it was my friends who were my teachers. And now, I am proficient in English as well. In the end, I understood that most of the problem is in our heads when we keep hesitating, and just by taking initiative, we solve half the problem.
