Getting into a general management role is always the most sought after role in B schools. The GMC (Group Management Cadre) summer internship program of Mahindra is among one of the most coveted roles on campus. Getting into Mahindra’s GMC internship was like a dream come true for me. All the interns had received the project details before joining the internship program. Talking with my Buddy and Project Guide gave me a lot of clarity on my project. This gave me some understanding of what is expected of me during the 2-month internship program.
I was really excited the day I arrived in Mumbai. It was my second stint in Mumbai. Coming back here felt like coming back home. All the interns were staying together. We made different groups for pooling in cabs for the next morning. Our taxi reached the Mahindra Tower at around 9 AM. All of us were excited for the upcoming 2 months, and the Mahindra GMC HR Team made it sure that it starts with a bang.
We had a whole week planned for us for which the HR team had started planning in January itself. We were introduced to various senior leaders across Mahindra Group. All the leaders explained the Rise philosophy and its importance in the business. It was exciting to understand how in spite of different Mahindra business being diverse in its own way were all based on a single ideology of RISE. All the leaders were excited to interact with us and answered all queries, which increased our understanding of the industry.
Everyone in the batch was excited for the next day as we were going to meet the one and only Mr. Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group. It was very interactive sessions where we discussed various qualities essential for a leader of tomorrow. We also talked about what is the purpose and how is it different from goal. It was a highly enlightening session as he shared his perspective on how to be an efficient and responsible leader of tomorrow.
We went to the Agri farm sector division on the third day in Kandivali. We learned about different marketing campaigns of Mahindra Auto division and about Electric Vehicles. The third day was concluded by fun bonding activities by The Board Game Co. The games were pretty innovative, and it ended on a high note with me winning 2 Amazon gift cards. The last day of induction was the much-needed Design Thinking workshop which will surely help us in our projects.
