CK Prahalad Centre for Emerging India, LIBA in association with Loyola Relief & Rescue Services (LRRS) organised “Venture/Entrepreneur Initiation program” Phase-1 for the tribes, dalits and migrants of Tiruvallur district. The beneficiaries of this program underwent technical training in various trades like Pre-press, Vector Graphics, Web Technology & Tailoring. To enhance the self-employability options of these trainees the CK Prahalad Centre of LIBA in association with various stakeholders like District Industries Centre, lead banks, Self-employment facilitating centers and District Collectorate organised “Entrepreneur Initiation program” Phase-1 to appraise them about the entrepreneurial climate of the district, experience the positive  eco-system, build confidence and re-instate their determination towards positive outcomes. The District Collector, Tiruvallur extended her support by providing the collectorate conference hall for the said program and physically making herself available to motivate the participants. To appraise the trainees on creating small-scale ventures, District Industries Centre (DIC) officials contributed on the various government schemes, methods, procedures to avail government incentives & subsidies. The Indian Bank which is the lead bank to support small-scale ventures through the INDSETI contributed towards developing a Business Plan/ Project report for the bank financing. On 25 September 2017 fifty trainees belonging to vulnerable sections of the society participated in this program with enthusiasm. They represented five taluks and twenty-two villages of Tiruvallur district. More than fifty percent of them were women, the average educational qualification is 10th, minimum being 8th standard and maximum qualification being BE. Thirty-seven participants gained an awareness of their skill gaps and realised the importance to acquire those skills for their career in self-employment with support from LIBA. Fifteen participants were highly eager to realise their venture dreams by enrolling for the EIP Phase-2, which will help them to generate ideas & get convinced through market study, develop business models and plans and with the support of District Industries Centre incorporate the venture. The lead banks would assist their financial requirements and thus they will realise their potential through a meaningful entrepreneurial career.
