Why Aditya Birla Group Is Big In my life
What an IDEA sir ji! I bet all of us remember this iconic punch line used by Abhishek Bacchan, but barely do we remember punch lines of any other telecom service providers. Such was the impact of Idea. Earlier when we used to encounter ads in between our favourite serials or India Pakistan matches, we often got pissed off. During my teenage, I wasn’t very attracted towards intuitive commercials, unique ads or brand taglines. But I do remember getting attached to the tune ‘Walk when you talk’, laughing out loud at ‘No ullu banaoing’ and ‘Oongli cricket’ ad by idea. At the same time, I was very intrigued by Idea’s ‘Caste war’, ‘Education for all’, ‘Break the language barrier’ ad campaigns. Probably that was the first time, I started gaining interest in ad commercials instead of finding them boring or irritating. Today I have habit of watching all those intriguing ad commercials and have a keen interest in understanding the psychology behind the making of those ads. It has definitely changed me and the way I look at things and has definitely changed my notion that ad commercials are silly and irritating.
How have I made an impact?
Did I make an impact? Yes I did. Starting from humble beginnings, It wasn’t easy for me to get quality education. TV was my only source of entertainment as I could not afford a broadband/internet connection. I often heard that the only way I could be successful in life would be by cracking IIT entrance exam and I tried attempting the same. I prepared for the entrance exam for two years, and guess what? I failed miserably. I had nothing in my mind, so I collected all I could and went to Kota to prepare for IIT once again, but within six months, I realized that I should be living my dream and not someone else’s. The only decent place I could get admitted in was DU and that’s where the journey began. I started getting intrigued by ad commercials, ad campaigns and creative billboards. In fact, I would go on collecting all such interesting pamphlets. I started understanding the value that the brands were wishing to project in their ad campaigns and since then. Those silly ads were not silly for me anymore. That’s when an aimless DU guy gained aim in perusing a post graduate degree in management. I gave my all for my CAT preparation. I remember being happy, as for the first time, I had an aim in my life. I appeared in CAT 2018 and was able to score overall 98 percentile. This was undoubtedly the greatest achievement in my life, the first hurdle was over, but I hadn’t yet reached my destination. I wasn’t great at facing interviews and I admit that I was rejected a couple of times. It was really tough for a guy like me, but today, studying at IIM Rohtak and writing this article, I feel that my idea to aim for something large has definitely changed my life.
