Choosing to do MBA is the first decision in one’s career. Sustaining and accomplishing what’s needed by absorbing all that it has is what determines one’s readiness to what lies ahead. While learning is a constant process, MBA begins with unlearning the misconceptions and what’s not required.
As part of the 6
th batch of SDA Bocconi Asia Center (formerly known as MISB Bocconi), my curiosity for the course and learning as a whole was plentiful. It definitely needed some channelization so as to align myself in the direction I had paved for myself. Career Development Services (CDS) of Bocconi Asia was the bridge for me and every other colleague in my class. With immense knowledge and experience combined with a passion for the students and well-being of the B-school, they fill the missing blanks. How, do you ask?
In the first year, CDS sits with us to align our strengths and experience along with our passion to set a direction for the two years ahead. We are left with a lot of thoughts to reflect on and insights to draw meaning from. This also set the path for our internship preparations and interviews. Complete supervision and guidance on interview preparations mock and feedback ensured we were ready for our internship interviews! Each student is exploring different streams. While encouraging us to do so, they also ensure we are aware of the realities of the world outside.
Sessions and guest lectures are part of our daily life. This helps us gain insights about different job roles, industry knowledge through topics necessary for a well-groomed MBA Graduate. The focus is to fill gaps if any, both for a fresher who just completed graduation and for someone who carries work experience. We are encouraged to take up live projects and any guidance required to put away confusions, CDS is available to guide us through!
The challenging part is when the placement season begins. Responsibility for finding the right opportunity for the right profile is borne by CDS and Placement Committee who diligently work towards it from the beginning. All in all, there are lots of efforts put in from the CDS throughout the two-year course and hats off to them, for ensuring us a rightful opportunity to pave our career!
Which Aditya Birla Company would you want to work for, and why?
Fashion is a combination of choice and taste. Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited is a place I see myself working as it has a customer-centric culture backed by strong values. Brands we use and follow, says a lot about oneself - personally, using brands such as Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Planet Fashion and the like, I carry the pride of being associated to something that nurtures confidence in a person. Integrating sustainability into manufacturing and design processes, along with ABFRL’s partnership with schools is an attractive feature. Being associated with such a company, I believe I would be able to contribute to the society by putting together my passion for the industry and people.
