What all factors we keep in mind while choosing a B-school? Is it the location, the placements, the learning experience or the brand name? Well, after given a second chance to join the PGP Program at IIM Kashipur, I’m glad that I chose it this time as it turned out to be a perfect blend of all and thus makes it an ideal B-School.
LOCATION: Kashipur is located near to several beautiful places like Nainital, Bhimtal, Haridwar, Rishikesh for travelling to beat their boredom. Jim Corbett National Park is 30km away from the campus. The college has a Bikers’ Club and Bicycling club who go out on expeditions to several places. These things give the students a very nourishing and enriching experience. These places also are a boon for people interested in Trekking, Travelling, Photography.
NEW CAMPUS: The permanent campus is located at Kundeshwari, on the outskirts of Kashipur. IIM Kashipur is among the firsts of the new IIMs to have its permanent campus. The campus has an expansion of more than 200 acres and is designed in a very eco-friendly manner.
ACADEMICS: At an overall level is that the faculty quality is really high. All the faculty is top notch, having prior experience from some of the most reputed institutes in the country and outside. The Faculty are participants in Harvard Business School, the Global Colloquium on Participant-Centered Learning and the college follow the Harvard Case-Based Learning pedagogy. The Research Databases and Bloomberg Analysis facilities are again something that is a great asset.
PLACEMENTS: One factor which we all have in mind and when we enter, realize there is a huge array of stuff this place teaches you. At IIM Kashipur the Industry and Profile mix are really diverse. Indicating, in essence, the diversity of the batch as well. Delloite, KPMG, EY, PWC, JPMC, Thompson Reuters, Boeing are some of the reputed companies that students get placed in.
INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITIES: IIM Kashipur provides single occupancy rooms with attached washrooms and a fully functional mess. Besides this, the campus has a high-speed internet facility, a fully functional library, and a canteen. Each floor has a radiant cooling system which makes it easier to survive the harsh summer months. You also get a refrigerator and a washing machine on each floor.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES: The student body is very active in the campus. Almost all the initiatives are driven by the student body with close to zero intervention from the administration. The committees and clubs are extremely active throughout the year. IIM Kashipur hosts a number of events each year, some of them being Agnitraya (Management-Sports-Cultural Fest), TEDx IIMKashipur, EQuiz, Venture 500, Uttishtha (Entrepreneurship Summit), B-Plan Competition, Coalescence(HR, Marketing, Operations, Finance), Rumble in the Jungle etc.
Which ABG company would one want to work for and why?
I’d like to work for Group Information Technology (Group IT). I’ve worked as a Backend Developer in an IT Startup and managed projects involving the latest technologies. With this in hand, and the addition of MBA from IIM Kashipur would give me the boost to work in the field of IT Management at Group IT. They work closely with businesses, corporate functions, and partners, providing strategic direction and thought leadership to the Group's IT initiatives. It engages with business transformation projects in deploying enterprise architecture, best practices and digital technologies like Social Media, Cloud, Mobility, Analytics, and IOT.
