Aditya Birla Group is USD 24.3 billion, which is one of the largest conglomerate in the country. It was back in 2014, during graduation I began to read about the big companies and conglomerates in India. I came to realise that most of the brands like Peter England, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Louis Phillippe, Pantaloons etc, which have been a part of my wardrobe for a long time are owned by Aditya Birla Group. These brands have always kept me up to date with the new fashion trends. Apart from fashion retail, Aditya Birla Group is also one of the biggest players in the telecommunications industry. My father has been a loyal customer of Idea Cellular Limited since 2000 when it was named AT&T Wireless Services, which was later changed to Idea cellular Limited in 2002. As in most of the cases families tend to influence the choices their family members make and hence I have also been a loyal customer of Vodafone Idea Limited since the first time I started using my mobile phone. When I started my first job in 2017, the mutual fund industry was booming and I also wanted to invest in equity funds. I visited my relationship manager at my bank and she explained to me various risks and funds to invest in. Aditya Birla Sun Life fund has been one of the top picks to invest and continues to be part of my portfolio to help me make long term wealth. It is also one of the top 5 Asset management companies in terms of Asset Under Management (AUM). Companies like Ultratech Cement Limited, Hindalco Industries and Grasim Industries Limited of the group have been enhancing the lives of millions of individuals just like me through several ventures.
A person comes across many challenges in his/her life. They can be due to work, emotions, fears etc. The most difficult challenge which I faced in my life was to overcome the Fear of Failure. I used to get overly anxious about exams even after preparing thoroughly for the same. One incident completely changed my life. After 12th when I appeared for the JEE Mains exam. I was constantly thinking about consequences which I would have to face if I didn't perform well in the exam. The fear of failure got the better of me and I couldn’t manage to perform well on the exam day. Due to which I couldn't make it into the college which I was aiming for and was not ready to take a drop and prepare again. I had a span of two months to think about how to get around this challenge. I became determined to prepare well for future challenges and keep my nerves calm during testing times. I started to believe the proverb “Hope for the best, prepare for the worst” and started some Mindful breathing and listening exercises on a daily basis. Such meditative sessions have helped me channelize my energy into working more efficiently than before. The improvement was visible from the first semester itself and I was able to perform well in my graduation. The self-confidence which I had built over the years paid off during under graduation placements and I was able to get into the first company for which I had appeared, and the same thing worked for me during my B-school interviews.
