Life is full of twists and turns, one shouldn't resist these changes instead embrace them. Our Journey may fail to be perfect but never fails to be beautiful.
I also had many ups and downs in my life. It's been a roller coaster ride. Greatest learning of my life came from a rejection. After choosing mechanical engineering to be pursued from a UG school famous in the industry, I was excited about my journey. Mechanical industry was in it's prime then and my passion for the domain of automobile made me think that my decision was right. It was a great learning experience I had in first three years of B.tech. But mechanical industry underwent drastic changes and many companies stopped recruiting engineers rather than went with diploma and ITI graduates. Finally when my batch was up for placements Mechanical companies were rarely visiting the campus and many were forced to sit for IT industry placements. To just be employed everyone tried to get at least placed with IT giants. So, we've underwent many C language workshops and made our-self ready like half baked cookies. Feeling bad for ourselves about our lack of opportunities to pursue our interests but couldn't help. Finally on the day of interviews we kept our best yet reluctant effort to get placed in any one of those three mass recruiters that visited our campus. Result: REJECTED. I couldn't believe myself that I got rejected, despite of my decent profile and hard effort. This rejection came to me as a slipper shot. Depressed and demeaned by this, I couldn't recover from this failure. Missed many IT interviews after this and felt that I am fit for nothing. My dad after hearing this news from my friends came to my rescue. I probably can say that phone call he made to console me changed my life. He kept motivating me and started sending whatsapp quotes every day and i wonder that he never knew how to use whatsapp till then. I started focusing on my interests. I decided to get a Core job. Then a notification for recruitment of GMMCO Limited - A CK Birla group for their sales and service profile had come. I am both excited and scared. I wanted to convert this badly. Started researching everything about the company in the process I left no stone unturned. Finally when the D-Day came I was struck with nervousness and I called my dad. He wanted me to give my best and asked me to never care about selection rather focus on my performance. I performed to my best and finally by end of the day I have had a Joining letter in my hand with in hand salary more than any IT firm would offer. I have felt real success for the first time. I would rather say I felt success after rejection for the first time. Rejection made this success more enjoyable. I actually found that every time I got rejected from something, I got a chance to get better offer. Can't take credit for this as my dad believed in me and he made me understand myself better. He filled confidence in me and brought me this success. How Aditya Birla Group is big in my life? Birla got registered in the minds of people as a brand of trust and quality. We can find at least a product of Aditya Birla in every household of India. It's been in lives of every Indian for decades now. I have very specific experience with Aditya Birla group to share.
I remember my first day in my company GMMCO - CK Birla group. I am being introduced to family of birla and found out that i am sitting there wearing Van Heusen formals - A brand of Aditya Birla group. I was surprised and ventured my time to study further about the products of Aditya Birla group. Findings left me amazed. Peter England, the brand which my mom always wants me to buy checkered shirts she liked from is of AB group. Allen Solly, Louis Philippe are other clothing brands i always have in my wardrobe. Especially the formal pants of Allen Solly are of pure class and they fit me perfectly. I still remember that everyone got excited about a new and probably the first mall coming up in my city Nellore. But I was excited about a banner i have seen in front the mall construction site that "Pantaloons" is being opened up in a month right opposite to the mall. I've always bought my clothes in either chennai or bangalore because of the options I would get to choose. After pantaloons got opened in my city, I am happy that i could shop along with my mom and dad. Now they are buying me clothes from pantaloons without my consent. Because they gained trust from previous experiences that clothes would fit me perfectly for sure when bought from pantaloons. In a way, Aditya Birla group made my clothing easy and perfect.
When I was working as service engineer at GMMCO Ltd for Hindustan Wheel Loader, I often visited Ultra Tech cement site for Annual maintenance check-ups. The process of site entry at Ultra tech in Chennai was a tedious process. I always have to carry a helmet and other safety gear. Later I understood and realized that I am not working in any normal site rather I am in a site where people values safety and hygiene. My work became easy when I found that they have all the equipment to perform the job and I was amazed to see the well maintained records of past services that had done. I have learned a lot from this experience both personally and professionally. After all life is a journey of learning. I can say in a way these experiences helped me to crack interview for MBA (IB) in Indian Institute of Foreign trade - Delhi. I was questioned about safety at work and I quoted about my experience with Ultra tech cement and how their practices made my job easy, this answer impressed the panel. And finally I made my dream come true to join a premiere institute in the nation. I am happy that I got a platform like Woomie to share my experiences that involved both Aditya Birla group and IIFT Delhi.
