It has precisely been twenty odd days that I have officially become a part of one of the country’s most coveted and prestigious b-schools, NMIMS Mumbai.
Prior to my selection in this academy, I have appeared for multiple interview processes in various other b-schools, and within these twenty days of my journey, I am already able to ascertain the highlights of our institution that makes it unique and one of a kind.
To start with,
- Location – NMIMS campus stands tall at the heart of Mumbai, which is just at a 5 minutes distance from the serene Juhu beach. Surrounded by the most happening restaurants and cafes of the city, NMIMS helps us manage to strike the perfect work-life balance and allows us to have the perfect stress release within the vicinity of the campus.
- Infrastructure – NMIMS is known for its world-class state-of-the-art infrastructure even after being situated at one of the prime locations in Mumbai. It comprises extremely luxurious AC classrooms created in a specific manner so that each student is able to communicate effectively with the faculty, also encouraging strong peer interactions. The extravagant library has a plethora of books making it a Pandora’s Box of knowledge. I remember the first time I had entered the premises, I immediately developed an immense sense of respect and honour for the place just by witnessing the lavish yet strictly professional panorama.
- Alumni base – There are many other b-schools who boast about their share of a rich alumni base, but what differentiates the elite alumni base of NMIMS from others is the strong connect that they have with the Institution. Within three weeks of my academic year, I was privileged enough to learn from and interact with the likes of Vighnesh Shahane, CEO, IDBI Federal Life Insurance or Hetal Sonpal, COO, Wigzo Technologies. Finance being my key area of interest, I wish to interact with industry stalwarts like Ashish Somaiya, CEO, Motilal Oswal Securities and Aruna Jayanthi, CEO, Capgemini India, who come under one roof during the prestigious Alumni Meets.
- Mumbai Darshan – I can definitely vouch for the fact that this particular activity of our campus happens to be one of the most innovative experiences that one can gain. It is a well planned and timed race of identifying the cultural heritage of Mumbai followed by performing the most unique activities on location. The holistic experiential learning gathered through this quirky activity has indeed helped us network more with people, hone our impromptu skills and be flexible with every challenge.
- Corporate Projects and Workshops – Strategically located in the financial capital, NMIMS manages to bring in the top-notch academic workshops, seminars and corporate projects from the first day itself. For instance, it gives an immense opportunity for Finance enthusiasts like me to attend various events and workshops in order to build the required advanced knowledge and make ourselves industry ready.

In the long run, I aspire to work for the Aditya Birla Financial Services Group as it has a significant presence in every sector across private equity, wealth management or general insurance to name a few. The Aditya Birla Group is the third largest Indian private sector conglomerate generating revenue of above US$100 billion with their headquarters situated in Worli, Mumbai.
The exquisite particulars of the organisation, be it brand value, stability or the locational advantage, inspires and drives me every single day to work really hard in order to transform my dream into a reality.
