The Aditya Birla Group is India’s first truly multinational corporation. Global in vision, rooted in Indian values, the Group is driven by a performance ethic pegged on value creation for its multiple stakeholders. Its state of the art manufacturing unit and sectoral services span not only India but also to other countries like Thailand, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Canada, Egypt and Australia. But to be very honest what stands out to me is the values that the company possess. According to me the core values Aditya Birla Group possess are Integrity, Commitment, Passion, Seamlessness and Speed. The vision of the Corporate Social Responsibility division says it all. To actively contribute to the social and economic development of the communities in which we operate. In doing so, build a better, sustainable way of life for the weaker sections of society and raise the country’s human development index.” Before Corporate Social Responsibility found a place in corporate world, it was already textured into Birla Group’s value systems. I personally respect and value the thought process of Aditya Birla who believed that it was unwise to keep on giving endlessly and instead felt that channelizing resources to ensure that people have the ability to make both ends meet would be more productive. He would say , “Give a hungry man fish for a day, he will eat it and the next day, he would be hungry again. Instead if you taught him how to catch fish, he would be able to feed himself and his family for a lifetime”. Most of the Group companies- Grasim, Hindalco, Indian Rayon, Indo Gulf, Ultra Tech have Rural Development Cells  which are the implementation bodies. I have immense respect for The Aditya Birla Group for working in more than 5000 villages and reaching out to 7.5 million people annually through Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development. This transformation span five key areas Education, Health, Agriculture, Infrastructure and Social causes. Kumar Mangalam Birla’s vision of Corporate Social Responsibility is far more expansive to include not only the community but employees, customers and shareholders which has let me stand in awe of this company. I believe that the group deserves all the success because of the values and the work culture it possess as it is rightly said “Culture is not an initiative. Culture is the enabler of all initiatives

FOLLOW YOUR RAINBOW (My Story) Our dinner conversations were never the usual family catching up. Since both of my parents are highly qualified, our dinner conversations revolved around academic conversations and importance of education. Coming from a service class, the virtues of academic diligence were sown in my personality from a very young age. This ensured that I focus on my academics, owing to which I joined KIIT University for a B.Tech in Computer Science. Here I was exposed to technical skills and practical aspects of life. I actually took a 5-year dual degree MBA course in my graduation where we were taught certain subjects from 2nd year itself. But the course was shut down by AICTE from next year. I thoroughly enjoyed these subjects and it never felt like a mandatory academic learning. Post B.Tech, I joined Bank of New York Mellon Technology, Pune as an Application Developer. But my ambition was very clear now . I wanted to pursue MBA from any of the top 20 b-schools of the country. I was very confident of getting selected in my first attempt itself as I was doing very well in my mocks. But to my utter surprise I scored a mere 67.21 percentile in CAT, 70 percentile in NMAT and 78 percentile in XAT. I was devastated but that day I understood that this is not enough. I started to relate myself with the Dhoni portrayed in the movie. My parents were very supportive and they motivated me all the way. I studied for 12-13 hours every day to  achieve my ambition. I studied day and night and almost gave around 120 mocks before the D-Day. I almost gained 25 kgs in this period. My results were very satisfactory this time as I scored 90 + in every exam and in NMAT I scored  99 percentile. I feel very happy to say that I lost around 35 kgs after my results were declared through constant training and exercises. I feel very privileged to get an opportunity to study in such a reputed college.  One thing that I learned from this journey was to  Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat.
