IIM Udaipur campus is nothing like a regular B-School campus. No swanky buildings or glass doors or marble floors! The whole campus has the essence of the state, Rajasthan, ingrained in its every nook and corner. The colourful stone walls of the hostel clusters and the terracotta tile floors in the academic block bring a unique old world charm to the campus. Every window of the hostel rooms opens to the calming view of lush green hills. The campus is nothing short of a hill-station during the monsoons.
Every corner of the campus has its own story. The huge mess where people not only have their meals but also stay up all night working on the group assignments. The state-of-the-art gymnasium above the mess is where all the health freaks are found at the oddest hours of the day. The neutral zone outside the mess, in the middle of all the clusters, is where every festival, from Holi to Navratri, is celebrated with all the fanfare. The night canteens where the whole batch rushes to, after every midnight submission. And the coolest part is the huge staircases above the mess where every new batch spends most of its time, bonding with their batch mates and the seniors.
The long corridors of the academic block look like race tracks in the morning when everyone is rushing towards the classes. The classrooms are a different story altogether. Sitting in those huge rooms for the first time, with your nametags on the assigned seats feels too overwhelming and elating at the same time. The case discussions and the classroom presentations seem too daunting at first but also give the courage to speak up.
The scenic beauty around IIM Udaipur also doubles the fun of playing sports in the campus. The long walk to reach the football ground is a small fun trek in itself. And the fun of playing football, cricket or volleyball on the “Balicha Bridge” in winters is inexplicable. Apart from all that, the most amazing experience in the campus is cycling on the backroad of the hostels. The evening and late night cycling trips with friends on the hilly tracks of the campus, after all the hustle and bustle of the day, gives an exhilarating experience and takes away all the stress and worries of the hectic MBA life. As it is said, “All these Small things are the Big things!” which make IIM Udaipur one of the best B-School campuses in India.
