One among the 20 IIMs with the motto of “Learning by Doing” IIM Kashipur provides a unique experience to an individual which is different in every sense and can not be compared to any other institute as it has its own set of features and specialties embedded in its diverse culture.
When Someone wants to join a B-school he/she looks for infrastructure, achievements, faculties of the college. When I joined IIM Kashipur I found a list of features which seem to make this institute a unique in its own sense:
INFRASTRUCTURE-
IIM Kashipur has a vast campus spread over 200 acres of land area with Red Brick Walls have been designed so beautifully that you can see big smiley faces of buildings from a long distance. The Campus has a perimeter of approximately four kilometers which is good enough to do cycling in the morning. The Campus offers a natural feel with huge flora and fresh air that not even makes the campus extremely beautiful but also provides an enriching ideal environment for study.
STUDENT-DRIVEN ACTIVITIES:
IIM Kashipur has 9 committees, 3 cells, 6 academic clubs and 5 non-academic clubs which are fully organized and maintained by students only and not any faculty. IIM Kashipur motivates students to manage all cultural and non-cultural, academic and non-academic clubs and committees own their own which builds a greater sense of responsibility among students and teaches them how to communicate between different teams comprising of people from different backgrounds and that’s what makes us global responsible managers.
Surrounding Environment:
one can also get a chance to rejuvenate their mind and souls by visiting places nearby. IIM Kashipur is surrounded by many beautiful places like Nainital, Rishikesh and what not. Visiting them during any free weekend is really a bliss. Being located in the foothills of the Himalayas, bike tours are very often for the student. Sometimes this gang of bikers is joined and led by our director Dr. Gautam Sinha. No other institute can say this except IIM Kashipur that they have access to one of the oldest national parks of the country at a cycling distance. Jim Corbett national park is roughly 30 kms from IIM Kashipur where students often go for Out Bound Training Programs and trust me when I say this you learn a lot in these two days of training.
Diversity and Friendliness:
One can find graduates and postgraduates from different backgrounds with varying work experiences in different industries mingling with each other in the early days of induction like they have been friends forever. You get a chance to celebrate all the festivals with people whose cultural background celebrate it in the best way possible and it feels like you have been doing this since infinity irrespective of the state or culture you belong to. There are always new things you get to learn from your own peers and seniors here.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I would like to work for Idea Cellular. The idea of a brand and company has always been at the forefront of its industry and provides huge internal job marketplace. Being from Computer Engineering background is one of the reasons too. Today the industry is at a crucial point of growth thus it gives me an opportunity, a challenge, to apply my learning lessons in the classroom in a real-life environment and hone my skills under the guidance of industry experts that idea has nurtured over the years. As a marketing enthusiast, I understand that the current industry scenario provides a perfect opportunity where decisions taken at this stage will be fruitful later and will reflect immense growth at a later part of the century for the company and the whole industry.
