Friends through fashion
Day One.
Feeling quite awkward in a brand-new midnight black suit, I stand, nervously glancing at my shoes. They are the wrong shade. Blinding white, against the inky black hem of my pants. I wonder whom I’d ask for an extra pair of black pumps, scanning the faces of the strangers standing around me. Strangers, soon to be friends. And this is how I meet her. My first friend, kind enough to lend a pair of shoes to the girl in the offending white ones.
Day Three.
I wake up to the harsh ringing of my alarm, and the sounds of my roommates urging me to get dressed for class. Days in b school are quite long and sleep is a luxury few can afford at this point. I look around for my blazer and find it missing. We turn our room upside down, the roommates and I. My confidantes, in this new strange world of B-School. They find me an extra blazer. They make sure I make it on time. The fashion faux pas continues.
Day Five.
By now, I’m slowly getting the hang of it. The long days and the short nights. Finding time to socialize without losing a couple of hours of sleep is still impossible. We trudge on, all of us. A sense of comradery created by shared experiences. We’re given an assignment that requires us to step out of college. The excitement is palpable. I look around at the group of people assigned to my team. Mostly familiar faces by now. This is where I find my shopping buddy. We take 10 minutes out and rush into Van Heusen to find me a blazer. New blazer in hand, confidence soaring, I head back through the gates of IIFT. The place I’ve slowly begun to love.
Day Seven.
As our first week in college comes to a close, there’s a sense of accomplishment and relief. I made it through. Not I, we. We couldn’t have done it alone, without all the helping hands along the way to see it through. I find my missing blazer dry cleaned and returned. I smile at the friends I made through the pursuit of wanting to dress sharp for Week One as I lay out my outfit for the next day. Week Two begins quicker than Week One ends. As I hit the bed for a few winks of precious sleep, I know I’m in for a hectic ride.

Which ABG company would I want to work for?
I’d like to work for ABFRL because the brands under it are synonymous with a good Retail experience for most Indians. Having completed my Undergrad in Architecture, I understand the immense work that’s put in during the design process and I’m truly interested in learning how these designs are being marketed and placed in the minds of the consumers.
