From 6.0 CGPA To One Of India's Top B-Schools | Rishabh Chaubey

I am Rishabh Chaubey, an incoming MBA student at BML Munjal University for the 2022-24 batch. My academic background is as follows: 10th - 6 CGPA,12th - 71%, Grad(BBA) - 6.8 CGPA.

Recently I concluded my internship in Talent Acquisition at TCS iON and during my graduation, I got the opportunity to work with Aditya Birla Group as an intern in L&D Department. Apart from Human Resources, I have also done Sale & Marketing internship with Internshala, Campus Ambassador Internship with Collegedunia.

Apart from the internships.

I've participated in 4 International events.

I've professionally worked as Registration Staff at 14th Print Pack India (World 3rd Largest Printing event). Shortly after that, I participated as Registration Coordinator in the 13th Petrotech 2019, It was organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India by ONGC. After that I professionally worked as a Conference Clerk at 14th United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, I have also worked as Hall Manager at the 16th Congress of Asian Society of Transplantation.

My MBA Prep started in year 2019 September when I was in 3rd Sem of my BBA initially I started from YouTube which resulted in I ended up taking the crash course for XAT 2021.

XAT 2021 destroyed me! One & a half years long preparation, hard work and toiling seemed useless. However, after a discussion with my parents, I decided to prepare again after my graduation. After completing my graduation in July 2021. I started again for CAT 2021 and this time I've scored decently in CAT, XAT, NMAT.

My Bml Munjal interview was scheduled on 15th Feb 2022 on Zoom at 3.30 PM.

Q1. Introduce yourself?

Ans. Told about my educational journey from undergrad and then my work about internships and events. Mentioned my hobbies and places I have stayed/visited.

Q2. What are your roles at Aditya Birla Group?

Ans. Explained about my job roles and project topic.

Q3. What is difference between Training and Development?

Ans. Explained by example.

Q4. You have mentioned that you had worked with United Nations with is that?

Ans. Ma'am It was United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification fourteenth session of the Conference of the Parties held from 2 to 13 September 2019 at the India Expo Center and Mart, in New Delhi, India. Some of the new and relevant issues that are on the radar of the governments included the interaction between climate and land, optimizing the mix of food, energy and environment demands on land, the rural-urban link, the negative feedback of land degradation on poverty and human health, the tremendous opportunity sustainable value chains may provide, the role of the faith communities and the rapidly growing global movement on land restoration both of which are essential to achieving land degradation neutrality, which is a pivotal Agenda 2030 target. Over 5,000 representatives from over 196 countries drawn from national, regional and local governments, science and research communities, the private sector, international and non-governmental organizations and all forms media had addressed these issues during the two-week event. 

My roles as conference clerk in 14th unccd was 
•Managed the Travel allowances and hotel charges with GST of all the delegators.
•Cross check all the expenses of delegators. 
•Prepared the conference meetings chart on daily basis.

Q5. What did you do in other events?

Ans. I mention all my roles and responsibilities in all the Internationals events.

Q6. Who is good leader and good manager?

(I didn't expect such an easy question)

Q7. Why MBA in HR?

Ans. Explained my inclination toward HR during 2nd year of my college, journey from Internships to Online Diploma in HR.

Q8. How do you managed all these events with your studies?

Ans. Ma'am I'm aware of my actions, I prepared a schedule and stick to it and on daily basis I kept track of my efforts and hours , most important knowing objective of my all works.

Q9. Why BMU?

Ans. I simply mentioned that university having tie-up with KPMG and also its academic partner is Imperial College of London with that curriculum is delivered in modules format etc.

Q10. Okay Rishabh, do you have any question regarding college or something?

Me:- Ma'am I'm in a position to get internship with HCL, if I get selected will college provide my the NOC for that.

Ma'am smiled and said "No, you will only get NOC when the session start i.e. July 2022"

Overall it was a good experience, panels are got really impressed with my internships,  One of my better interview experiences in this MBA cycle. I've got interview calls from BML Munjal university, LM Thapar School of Management, SDMIMD Mysore, IMI Kolkata and ISB&M Pune. I've converted all the interviews and my name is on the waiting list at IMI-K because as I have secured a seat at BML Munjal, I did not take part in IMI-K further admission process.
