A1)
Being the elder child in family, I always had to meet the expectations of my family. This ranged from performing well in academics to behave maturely and responsibly at the time of demise of my grandmother. Obviously as a child, I was not born with the traits I possess and led my family down but more importantly, I learned from my mistakes to grow into an individual to whom my parents could look up to. My beginning as a student was not what my parents would have appreciated however with perseverance and hard-work, I started focusing on getting the basics into place. Eventually after a few years, I started performing academically and ended entering a prestigious engineering college in my field of interest. The second turning point of my life was my grandmother’s sudden demise. While I was in my SSC, on one day my grandmother passed away because of heart puncture. My parents could not believe it and for a few days from then, I was the one taking care of my younger sister who then 10 and also managed my studies along with. The third life changing incident was when I ambitioned to pursue MBA and was rejected from 10 b-schools straight away after my graduation. This was an eye opener. I geared up and didn’t lose hope, prepared for CAT again and this time got selected from all the b-schools I got a call from.
So, I believe I might not have been a child prodigy but my trait of perseverance and not losing faith in me helped deal with the challenges I faced in academic career and my social life as well. At times I felt that I had set my goals high and was not able to achieve it but I grind myself to achieve that goal for the next attempt instead of lowering my ambitions.
A2)
Aditya Birla Group has been revered in India even before independence. Late Shri G.D.Birla’s contribution to attain independent India has been remarkable. After independence, Aditya Birla Group has been linked to each and every family in one way or other be it through apparel in form of Grasim or Madura garment lifestyle or through its retail markets like More mega store. It is also surmount in cement industries with brands like Ultratech cements. Idea cellular after its merger with Vodafone is the largest mobile network in India. Hence its has connected each and every citizen of nation not just by its product but also the philanthropic activities it has been doing since decades.
I have also been part of Aditya Birla Group and been using its various products. I have been wearing apparels of Peter England. Ultratech and idea cellular have been and are intrinsic to my family since decades. However, I have a peculiar connect with Aditya Birla Group. I am a graduate of Birla Vishwakarma Mahavidyalaya Engineering College. This was the first government engineering college established in Gujarat in 1948. It was built by donations from Birla Education Trust itself. The education institute provided ample of opportunities and best infrastructure for shaping me in best possible way. As a result, I consider what I am today as a person is a product of hard-work, efforts and philanthropic activities by Shri G.D.Birla and Birla Education Trust.
Thus, I feel that my growth and upbringing would not have been this well, had not Aditya Birla Group had not played the part it played not just as a leading business group but also carrying social responsibility on its shoulders.
