My journey for MBA started from my 4th year of undergrad (B-tech, EEE). It was that time of the year when all the 'so-called' engineers were preparing hard to get campus placement. Unlike my friends, I was lying on my bed and binge-watching TV series. People used to think if I was not participating in the placements? Of course, I was! But I was not concerned about it as I made up my mind of taking a break after graduation and preparing for the deadly MBA entrance examinations.
After successfully clearing my undergrad with 9.41/10.00, I started completely focussing on my preparation. Until I started my preparation in full swing, I didn't know that I was so dedicated to getting into a top B-School. I studied ~10hrs a day making sure that I was sleeping for at least 8hrs daily. The kind of discipline I maintained in my daily schedule was never seen before. Due to all this hard work, I was able to score 99.74 in IIFT, 99.23 in CAT, 99.xx in NMIMS, 99.94 in SNAP.
After the GDPI and WAT process, the best which I could get was IIFT-D. I didn't even think for a single second to place my bet, and almost my future, on IIFT-D.
My MBA journey started with the orientation taken by seniors for 1 week. I remember those sleepless nights (and days as well), tasks given by the seniors, guest lectures and most importantly the surprise fun activities. The first week was a hell of a roller coaster ride (just like the whole MBA). After the orientation was over, the whole focus came to the dreaded process called 'summer placements'. Summer placements in a B-School were the first time when everyone realized the fierce competition in the batch.
You might get new enemies as well as new friends after the summer placements (You'll understand this if you have done MBA or if you are planning to do it).
After the summer placements were over, everyone got enough time to interact with the batch. This created a lively environment in the campus. Juniors hanged out with seniors; new bonds were made (not to forget about the Love birds). Then after a few months, typically 4, we went for our internships (a gateway to getting a permanent role in the topmost companies).
The time period between the internship and the final placements was the most hectic time for some and the most fun time for the others. Those people who got PPO's considered their MBA as over whereas people like me who didn't get their PPO's felt that the real struggle had just started. This struggle involved participating in corporate competitions, preparing for the final placements and maintaining the attendance (to some extent grades as well).
After all this real struggle, when the final placements got over, we realized that we were spending the last leg of our unforgettable MBA journey. This realization, and the associated sadness, could be seen on everybody's face. After all, these were the best 2 years of our lives.
Now, I sit on my office chair, writing this story and feeling nostalgic about the lovely moments I spent in the last 3 years and undoubtedly the best 3 years which taught me the most important life lessons one needs to learn. I’ll cherish the time spent during the MBA throughout my life.
