During the days I worked as an Engineer, I was looking out for a mobile network connection which would provide me connectivity both in my relatively less urbanized hometown and the urban city I worked in. My friends pitched for Vodafone Idea connection and later I was grateful to them because once when there was a cell tower failure impacting almost all networks around my place, people were able to reach out to me through Vodafone Idea connection. Much later in life I was in search of smart casual tops and formal shirts. I was amazed to find the plethora of choices Allen Solly, Van Heusen and Pantaloons provided at my fingertips. I was skeptical about buying clothes form e-shopping sites since there was a probability that the product may not look as given in the images and returning could have hassles. However since the deals looked so good and transparent, I decided to give it a try. Among the three I bought, I had to return only one and that was because of my preference and not due to damage or deviation from what I had expected. Moreover the return collection was so prompt and hassle free that I recommended the same to my friends. My interaction with ABG products were almost always as first time experiences and they were always good. It instilled in me the confidence that their brands can be trusted and relied upon. The processes were seamless which shows their passion and commitment to customers and the field they have chosen. I believe that such great customer experiences can be provided only if the company has a good work culture and value system in place. ABG has a long history of business catering to 14 industry sectors, a strong presence spanning 34 countries and committed workforce of over 120, 000 employees and despite their vastness they maintain the quality of services and integrity. Having started off with their roots in a small village, they contribute to social cause in a big way as well. ABG has a big role in my life because of the values and zeal they showcase in each of their services and products while being a dominant player in several sectors. Since childhood, my parents and teachers made it a point to imbibe values in me and to think by being in the shoes of the other person. As a child, I often looked up to Mahatma Gandhi’s talisman printed on the first or second page of the NCERT textbooks we had. The values I had and concern for common good often helped me in settling any disputes or confusion or challenges I faced rationally. Later in life, one of the biggest challenges I had was to study while working as an Engineer so that I may clear entrance exams for higher studies. I never compromised on the quality of services I provided and was committed to the work and role I had taken up. Despite my increased responsibilities which gave me less time to study, I worked hard and relentlessly towards achieving the aim I had. Despite the difficulty to find time, I believed in contributing to the society and used to try to make time for various social welfare activities in short free time I could find. Even after clearing the exam there was ambiguity due to the risks involved in going for higher studies, but my value system and clarity of the vision I had for myself helped me in making choices wisely. My choices were almost always based on the ideals I believed in. I always kept an open mind and sought advice/feedback to ensure that I was on the right track and change my opinions if I was on the wrong path. Surely, if a highly successful business such as that of Aditya Birla Group plodded along the same hard route while being committed to its value system, I believe I too can achieve the goals I have set for myself through perseverance, commitment and deep-rooted values.
