Aditya Birla Group – Big in my Life
My job required me to travel a lot for various client meetings, requirement gathering and product integrations. The two most important things for me were to look presentable and 24x7 on the go connectivity. For the former, I required clothes which do not wrinkle while being packed tightly in a suitcase. Thanks to Grasim and their wrinkle-free fabrics, everything constituting my formal attire was taken care of. For the latter, I required a connection with a very prominent coverage and 4G connectivity, so that I could stay connected from anywhere. I switched to Idea (now Idea-Vodafone) 3 years ago and have never been disappointed ever since. Be it client calls, Skype meetings, emails or video conferences, I did not face any issues whatsoever. My business domain is insurance, and I constantly find myself in situations where I explain to my friends and family the concept of life insurance & health insurance and emphasize on why these two are important. When asked for a suggestion regarding which insurer to go to, I always suggest the best of the best, Birla Sun Life and Aditya Birla Health Insurance. The Aditya Birla Group always fascinates me because it is one of the few conglomerates who thrive in almost every business area they enter, which a result of sheer hard work and the will to excel in their work. This is what inspires me, as an individual to follow similar ideologies in my professional life, to dream big, work hard and make those dreams a reality.
Challenges in my life and how I overcame them.
After class 10
th, my grades started deteriorating and hence, I did not perform well in the class 12
th Board Exams, and the competitive exams as well. It was a very depressing phase of my life, as most of my friends went to very good colleges to pursue their career in various fields, and I was left with relatively lesser colleges to choose from. I joined an engineering college, always feeling that I could do so much better with my life. But this taught me an important life lesson –
Don’t be sorry for the results you did not get, because of the hard work you did not put in. Hence, I started working on improving myself, and with a decent amount of effort, I was able to get a placement in an MNC. At my first day in the office, I told to myself – “This is your chance of redeeming yourself, and to do that you have to
be the hardest worker in the room”. For the three years I worked, I was awarded performance rating 1 (on a scale of 1 to 4, 4 being the lowest) every year. This boosted my confidence and made me realize that with persistence and hard work, everything is achievable. Going to a renowned college was my long awaited dream. With that goal in mind, I started preparing for CAT 2018 with utmost dedication and scored 99.36 percentile. I received calls from the top institutes of this country and I finally decided to join Sailesh J Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay.
