The first two days of the foundation program were spent in the auditorium at NMIMS, with lectures by various dignitaries. There were swarms of new faces everywhere, and I was still getting accustomed to the people, the place and the routine. I was aware that NMIMS did not have its own campus, and before coming to Mumbai this did not feel like much of a drawback.
But the first two days in the college gave me this realisation every second. Bonding with people in a new place is of utmost importance, and this did not seem easy here. So the first visit to our classrooms after the never-ending auditorium lectures came as a relief. There were, undoubtedly, some awkward silences accompanied by uncomfortable glances here and there, scanning the class from the corner of my eyes. Shortly after, the professors arrived and the customary sessions were held. They walked us through the general guidelines for a while.
One of the professors, sensing that all this was still new to us, decided to lighten up the atmosphere in the classroom. She gave us all a sheet of paper and asked us to write three things which, in our point of view, made us stand out. She would read out all the sheets and the class had to make a guess who the student was. This went on for some time, with people writing some interesting and crazy things. When my turn came, she gave the class the following hint – “ she is known as the dream girl of the nation, who is she?”.
This whole activity made everyone open up a little, and I became more comfortable with the people and slightly familiar with the names too. Towards the end of the lecture, the professors told us that, we as a class, had to decide on a fun activity and conduct it the next day. This gave me all the more reason to go and interact with everyone. People were quite upbeat about this activity, and everyone was pitching in their own ideas. We finally zeroed in on charades.
The next day was a fun filled one, with the class divided into two teams and playing charades. We even got the professors to play with us. Following this, we had the cake cutting for our division. These two days served as memorable experiences for me in the classroom at NMIMS.
Another most important factor in college life is affordable good quality clothing. Clothes play a very important role in every college goer’s life. Pantaloons is one such brand which resonates with me on this front. It has a variety of clothing line for both men and women. And the highlight of Pantaloons is the affordable price. All this aspires me to work for a retail outlet like Pantaloons, know its business model, conduct market research.
