Especially astonishing is how Aditya Birla Group has rooted its origins from almost a century before our nations independence climbing its way into practically every sector of the Indian economy. Laying the foundation for the Birla business empire is Shiv Narayan Birla, who started up with cotton trading in 1857. Ghanshyamdas Birla in the early years of the 20th century, then about 1965 Aditya Vikram a farsighted young innovative businessman who took the Birla group on its first step on foreign soil setting up 19 companies across Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Egypt. The final mile that makes up ABG for what its Kumar Mangalam Birla, who established the company into copper, insurance, telecommunications, retail and software services.With interests in textile, retail, financial services and telecom industries; ABG is widespread in its reach so much so that you cannot take a walk down the street without crossing by it’s product and service subsidiaries.
Most notable for me regarding Aditya Birla group that is rooted in my history and more specifically my families history way back from the 1900’s would be Hindalco in its subsidiaries in fertilizers and aluminium. I come from a Mango farming community wherein phosphogypsum special fertilizers of Aitya Birla are prominently used for horticultural produce in the district. My grandparents and great grandparents livelihood is dependent on the uncertain and untimely incidents relating to harsh weather and topography, but ADGs products in fertilizers and their source metal in agricultural implements and aids is a major hand in holding up the humble farmer. I see how Birla group of companies has been there for whole generations, whole villages and personally every bit of my childhood spent running about my grandfathers lime and mango farms with the heat and sweet nectar flowing in the air.
