Event co-hosted by Goa Institute of Management and PRME-Asia on the 27th & 28th of November 2015 to be addressed by global luminaries on responsible and sustainable management

Goa will be hosting the 6th PRME-Asia Forum on the 27th and 28th of November, 2015. The event will be held at the sprawling, sea-facing Taj Vivanta at Panjim. The Principles of Responsible Management Education Forum - better known as PRME - is supported by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). In the current academic environment, corporate responsibility and sustainability have entered, but not yet become embedded in the mainstream of business-related education. The PRME Forum is a global call to business schools and universities worldwide to gradually adapt their curricula, research, teaching methodologies, and institutional strategies to address new business challenges and opportunities.   “It is a part of our mandate at Goa Institute of Management to produce managers who are conscious of their responsibility to sustainable growth,” says Dr. C. Joe Arun, SJ, Director, Goa Institute of Management. “The PRME Forum is a great opportunity for us to hear the global fraternity discuss changing trends, practices, and innovations that are making businesses sustainable across the world.”   Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, U.N. Under Secretary General, will be the keynote speaker for the plenary session. The list of international speakers at the 2-day forum include Jonas Haertle, (Head PRME Secretariat), Dr. Ben Teehankee (De Salles University, Philippines), Dr. June Qian (Tsinghua University, China), Mr. Ravi Fernando, Operations Director, Malaysia Blue Ocean Strategy Institute, and Dr. Mary Gentile (Babson College, USA). Prominent speakers have also been drawn from the elite B-schools of India, including IIM(A), XLRI Jamshedpur, MDI Gurgaon, XIM Bhubaneswar and GIM.   A pre-Forum workshop on Teaching Responsible Management will be held on the 26thof November at GIM. In this workshop, several faculty members will demonstrate the nuances of responsible management teaching.   On the lighter side, the event will include an informal jamming session with the GIM community at the institute’s campus, as well as an opportunity for the global fraternity to experience the local culture and environment.
