Aditya Birla group, a US $44.3 billion corporation which is active across 14 Industry sectors. Some of them being namely The UltraTech cement, Birla carbon, Grasim ltd, Birla Copper limited, Birla fashion and Retail ltd, Hindalco ltd and Vodafone Idea ltd. The group is in the league of the Fortune 500 companies, having the employees from over 42 nationalities. Currently the more than half of the revenues flow from the overseas operations spreading across 34 countries. It’s chairman Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, has been spearheading the group’s operations since 1995, after the untimely death of his father at the young age of 28. His efficiency can be seen from increase in the Group’s turnover from US$ 2 billion in 1995 to US $ 44.3 billion today. The most recent merger of Vodafone and Idea under guidance of Mr Birla has created it the world’s second largest telecom player.
Now coming to the impact the Aditya Birla group has left on my life till now. I would like to say that the Grasim Industries ltd is more connected to my life. Grasim Industries is the flagship company of the group which started as a textiles manufacturer in India in 1947. Now it has been leading global player in the largest chemicals and cement producer. My life has been smooth as the Grasim clothing which was incorporated in 1947 and since enjoying the success till now. Though certain challenges have been faced in life as are faced while making decisions in the business due to the controllable and uncontrollable environment, but only after overcoming the challenges the gold shines. So describing certain challenges which have been faced by me, first would be overcoming an accident. While I was in 7
th class, I took a fall from swings, fell facedown and was all bruised up. My lower jawline was closed, so I was unable to eat anything only on liquid diet for two months. But the silver lining here was that summer holidays were going on and I didn’t lose much on the academic front. Another challenge faced by me was when my father was hospitalized after class 12
th examination, my father had stayed there for two months because his operation went bad. I had to move to and from home, and take care of my father while my friends were enjoying and playing in the holidays. The silver lining in this situation was that I got to know about the importance of a healthy life which prompted to maintain my Physical health.
In the end I would like to say that like there are certain defaults in the clothing lot, but what depends in the end is that the positives should overcome negatives. The life certainly faces up and down but what matters the most is to learn from the challenges and move on in life. Grasim clothing is a quality brand which was gifted by us to the others on various occasions, this gives a sense of satisfaction to the receiver just like I have learned from the various situations.
