My initial two weeks at IIFT have been so heavily occupied that I doubt if I have been so productive in any two weeks of my life. I am now getting to experience the rigors of the life at a premier business school. But I feel that the kind of satisfaction I have been feeling at IIFT, each night before going to the bed, is unprecedented. I believe that I and all my batchmates have been learning some greatly important life lessons, some even unknowingly, as we proceed through our MBA.
Life at IIFT is greatly energetic, extremely dynamic and always lively. I have got numerous anecdotes to share about the exciting life at IIFT, in just a couple of weeks. But given the constraints of time, length and memory, I wish to bring out a couple of them.
At IIFT, there’re so many activities to participate in, besides the regular academics. A typical day in the life of an IIFTian revolves around the classes, guest lectures, work of clubs or committees, corporate competitions and what not. Many a time, students cut short the time they spend in sleeping to accommodate such activities in their schedules. This can have some funny repercussions! One such funny incident took place during the first week of interactions with our seniors. They were asking us some questions about a company, XIL (name changed) in order to check our awareness of the same. The junior batch probably could not answer as per their expectations. So, one of the seniors suddenly asked all of us, “Do you want that XIL should not come to our campus for recruitment?” A boy sitting in the front row of the auditorium loudly and firmly responded, “YES”. The students from the senior batch could only watch him in horror and dismay. We all could not believe our ears. The boy looked perplexed and realized his mistake. He admitted that he was sleepy and wrongly interpreted the question. We were initially more shocked than amused. But after his testimony, all of us, including the boy himself had a hearty laugh.
Not all consequences of a b-school lifestyle are undesirable like above. I would not call even the above as truly undesirable because it gave a good reason to about 180 people to laugh out heartily! Such incidents remain fresh in the minds for long periods. Another anecdote which I would share is a more recent one. I was on a long phone call discussing and fixing a meeting with a student who wanted my MBA preparation books. I later realized that within the time span of the call, I had made good progress in the deliverable of a research competition as well as filled a Google form meant to capture our profile details. I had not known myself to be a multi-tasker before that day. It seems that some time into an excellent MBA programme has made me one. I greatly believe that the importance of these skills cannot be overemphasized for a manager. The valuable life skills that I learn here are surely going to play a prominent part in my future career.

ABG Company:
It is my dream to work in the highly esteemed and accomplished organization, Aditya Birla Group. The values and ethics that the company embodies are very close to my heart, as I have been a student at the Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani. I can very well associate myself with the culture of the organization and feel like it has played a great role in my own development over the past years. Among the Aditya Birla Group companies, I aspire to work for Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited. This is because it is India’s largest fashion and lifestyle company to which all of the most prominent fashion brands such as Louis Phillipe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly and Peter England belong. I have always admired these brands very much. Therefore, it is my deepest desire to work at Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited.
