Aditya Birla Group is a multinational conglomerate, operating in 35 countries with 120,000 employees having more than 15 brands. It is headquartered at Mumbai. Peter England, Allen Solly, Vodafone Idea, Ultratech Cement are some of its well-known brands. The brands of ABG that I came across the most is in Fashion retail. I often buy clothes from Pantaloons whenever I want quality products for affordable prices. In my family, Pantaloons is the goto place for Ethnic wear and Kids wear. Trousers from Peter England and Shirts from Allen Solly has become a must to look sharp and professional for any corporate event. Apart from that almost every Indian use Freshwrap aluminium foil in their day to day life. Indians love food and anything that keeps the food warm and tasty needs to be in our good books, Freshwrap fits the bill perfectly. Ultratech Cement is synonymous to making strong and long lasting houses. Its tag line “The engineer’s choice” is the testament to their confidence for delivering quality product. I remember my father insisting on using Ultratech cement for renovation of our house, terming it as a long term investment. “An Idea can change your Life”- nobody can get this phrase out of their head. It gave me an instant connect to the brand and made Idea (Now Vodafone Idea) my preferred telecom brand.
In my 10
th standard before one month of my board exams, I met with an accident. My left hand was fractured and the only silver lining was that I write with my right hand. I tried to remain unfazed and made more efforts and in the end got good marks in board exams. After my under-graduation, I worked to revive my family business of making ceramic products. We came up with Ceramic pot for drinking water as our main product. The USP of our ceramic pots is that every ceramic pot is unique as each pot has different hand painted design. I came up with the idea to showcase our product at party plots and ethnic exhibitions. As our target base was women who are homemakers, we also did door to door marketing. During my 3 years of working in the business I did everything from working on a shop floor to selling my product at different homes. I zeal to learn new things, hence after completing my MBA degree from IIFT I would like to have a corporate career to further my knowledge in a different environment.
