The sprawling campus of IIM Udaipur, situated amidst the Aravallis has been my home for the last one year. On the evening of 24
th June, 2017, when I entered the IIM Udaipur campus, it was apprehension I felt instead of an expected exhilaration. The campus was still under construction and the sight was disheartening. But, little did I knew that in one year, it would be a place I would never want to leave. A place where I would create many good memories, friends and learn a lot about management.
Ironically, the unique thing I like about my college is the site where it’s located and the architecture of the campus. While resembling the traditional fortress architecture of Rajasthan, the campus also upholds the IIMU’s core values of Environmental Consciousness and Ecological Sustainability. The architecture of IIMU follows Universal Design, i.e, each and every place of the campus is inherently accessible to older people and people with disabilities. The theatrical classrooms with wooden finished walls and roofs provide a highly conducive atmosphere for learning.
What makes the campus more special is the place itself. The college campus is located around 10 kms away from the City of Lakes – Udaipur. The 125 acres campus is kind of cocooned by the hills which are a part of the Aravalli range. The word ‘Rajasthan’ usually evokes an image of yellow sand, camels and heat in many people’s mind. But Udaipur gave me a completely different experience and picture about the state. During most part of the year, I felt the climate of Udaipur more pleasant and cooler than that of my home town in Kerala. The brown hills turn green during the months of July, Aug and September. Just the view of the mountains from the hostel room windows every day is enough to make one’s mornings awesome. The days become much more enjoyable when the winter starts from October-end till January the next year.
Although, IIMU has a lot more unique things in its quiver to brag about, the campus and infrastructure will always remain one of the best among them. The aspect that makes this unique campus a paradise to live in and learn, is the bunch of people who live in the campus, which includes – the two batches of MBA students, foreign students from other countries, the faculties and Sarovar Hospitality staffs. Moreover, everyone in the campus keep the core values of IIMU close to their hearts.
The ABG group I like to work with:
I want to work for Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail as it would provide me an opportunity to hone my skills and passion for marketing and consumer behaviour and to study, gain insights and develop market offerings to customers. ABFRL has an extensive portfolio of popular brands and offerings, to which I wish to add value through my academics. Furthermore, starting off my career as part of a conglomerate of such a stature as the Aditya Birla Group would serve as an icing on the cake.
